We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Product Manager – Processing Optimization to join our Product team in the United States or Canada. This role will focus on developing and implementing NMI’s customer fee strategies — including surcharging, dual pricing, cash discounting, and service fee solutions — across our platform. You will drive initiatives that help our partners and merchants offset payment acceptance costs, enhance profitability, and remain compliant with evolving regulatory and card brand requirements.
As a Senior Product Manager, you’ll define and execute the product vision for customer fee enablement across channels. You will collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, compliance, legal, marketing, and sales teams to create a seamless and scalable framework that supports the diverse needs of ISOs, ISVs, and payment facilitators. You’ll translate market insights and partner feedback around customer fee strategies  into actionable product strategies. You must also be the driving force behind the execution of the vision, working with product owners, development leaders and product designers who will translate your product vision into design and ultimately software.
A successful candidate will possess strong product management expertise in payments, a deep understanding of card network rules and merchant economics, and a track record of bringing customer fee products, like surcharging and cash discounting, to market. You’ll be equally comfortable engaging with external partners and internal stakeholders to ensure that NMI’s customer fee solutions are innovative, compliant, and easy to adopt.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the strategy and roadmap for customer fee products, including surcharging, dual pricing, cash discounting, and service fee programs across NMI’s omnichannel platform.
  • Lead discovery and research to understand merchant and partner needs, market trends, and regulatory developments that influence customer fee adoption and interchange optimization.
  • Define clear product requirements and success metrics that balance business goals, partner enablement, compliance, and end-customer experience.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, legal, compliance, sales and marketing) to design, develop, and launch compliant customer fee solutions that align with card brand and state regulations.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external vendors to assess buy vs. build opportunities and ensure the right strategic partnerships are leveraged to accelerate product delivery.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and risk mitigation, maintaining alignment with card networks, processors, and legal and compliance teams throughout the lifecycle of customer fee initiatives.
  • Support commercial teams in developing go-to-market strategies, partner enablement materials, and sales training to ensure effective positioning and adoption.
  • Analyze program performance and customer feedback to optimize pricing strategies, adoption rates, and partner satisfaction.
  • Act as subject matter expert on customer fee programs, educating internal and external teams on market positioning, compliance nuances, and best practices.
  • Monitor the competitive landscape to identify emerging trends, competitive differentiators, and strategic opportunities to enhance NMI’s offering.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of payments industry product management experience, including proven experience bringing customer fee solutions, like surcharging,  to market in the US.
  • Practical product experience across customer insights, product strategy and planning, execution, data driven outcomes, and leadership. 
  • Experience in vendor selection and management as well as buy-build analysis.
  • Ability to break down market trends, customer & sales feedback and competitive intelligence into well defined, concise product strategy plans.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with customers, business and technical team members across the organization
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an effective communication style
  • Understanding of agile scrum methodologies
  • Ability to effectively communicate and work in a distributed environment with colleagues located in different geographical regions and across various levels of departments and organizations to facilitate meetings with a business and a technical audience
  • A Bachelor's degree in business management, computer science, engineering, accounting, economics, finance or a related field preferred
  • This position requires some travel to partner sites, conferences, and in-person team planning meetings (about 10%)
