Job Overview:

As the Senior Product Manager for Coursera’s Notification Platform, you will lead the strategy and execution of how we communicate with learners across email, push, and in-app channels. This role is part of the Engagement team at Coursera and is critical to driving engagement and retention for learners throughout their journey.


You’ll work cross-functionally with Engineering, Marketing, Data Science, and Core Product teams to build a unified, scalable, and compliant notification system. Your work will ensure that learners receive timely, relevant, and high-quality messaging—from transactional confirmations to behavioral nudges and lifecycle campaigns. This is a highly visible, systems-oriented role that combines product craft, platform thinking, and user empathy to support both our consumer and enterprise businesses.


Responsibilities:

  • Own the strategy, roadmap, and execution for Coursera’s Notification Platform (email, push, in-app messaging).
  • Work with product teams across Coursera to define when and how transactional messages are triggered across core user flows.
  • Collaborate with marketing and lifecycle teams to support campaign delivery and personalization.
  • Collaborate with design on standardizing notification templates (e.g. emails) 
  • Define and maintain notification standards, templates, and governance to ensure consistency, clarity, and brand alignment.
  • Monitor and improve performance metrics such as deliverability, engagement, latency, and unsubscribe rates.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of product management experience, including ownership of a platform or internal tooling product.
  • Experience working with messaging technologies (e.g., email systems, push notifications, or in-app messaging).
  • Strong technical fluency; able to work closely with engineering on system design and integration.
  • Proven ability to define strategy, manage roadmaps, and execute cross-functional projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with data-driven decision-making and A/B testing.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with messaging infrastructure tools (e.g., Braze, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Amplitude).Familiarity with legal and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, CAN-SPAM).Track record of defining governance standards across distributed product teams.Experience working on consumer-facing products.

 $158,000 - $198,000

 

US Zone 2

$134,500 - $168,500 USD

 

US Zone 3

 $126,00 - $158,00  USD

 

The range(s) listed above is the expected annual base salary for this role, subject to change.

 

Salary is just one component of Coursera’s total rewards package. All regular employees are also eligible for a bonus program and equity in the form of RSU’s.

 

A number of factors are taken into account when determining pay, which includes: job level, location, training/education, business need, skill set and internal equity. 

Current Zone Locations:

  • Zone 1- San Francisco Metro, New York City Metro or Seattle Metro
  • Zone 2 - CA (outside of SF Bay Area), CO, CT, DC, GA, IL, MA, MD, NY/NJ (other than NYC), OR, RI, TX, VA, WA (other than Seattle)
  • Zone 3 - all other US locations
