Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together.
So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions - to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we've embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.
Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes - large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We're building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.
The Role
The restaurant industry is experiencing a significant transformation, with technology becoming increasingly crucial in determining a restaurant's success. As part of Square's Food & Beverage Back Office Management team, you'll have the opportunity to revolutionize how restaurant groups and multi-unit operators manage their menus and grow their businesses.
We're looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead our Multi-Unit Menus initiative, where you'll tackle one of the most complex challenges facing growing restaurant businesses today: efficiently managing menus across multiple locations and sales channels. This is a unique opportunity to build products that will help thousands of restaurants scale from local favorites to regional powerhouses.
In this role, you'll shape how restaurant groups manage their entire menu ecosystem - from pricing strategies across different markets to coordinating limited-time offers across hundreds of locations. You'll work on solutions that help restaurants maintain brand consistency while adapting to local market needs, ultimately enabling them to grow faster and more efficiently.
You Will:
  • Own and drive the vision, strategy, and execution for our multi-unit menu management platform
  • Work closely with restaurant owners and operators to deeply understand their operational challenges and translate them into elegant software solutions
  • Lead the development of scalable, enterprise-grade features that help restaurants manage complex menu operations across multiple locations and channels
  • Partner with our research team to identify industry trends and emerging needs in the multi-unit restaurant space
  • Collaborate with teams across Square to ensure our menu management solutions integrate seamlessly with our broader ecosystem
  • Drive alignment across multiple stakeholder teams and influence product direction at the executive level
  • Use data and customer insights to make informed product decisions and measure success
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, gathering feedback and iterating on solutions

You Have:
  • Experience: 8+ years of product management experience with demonstrated success in building complex enterprise software products.
  • Vision: You've successfully developed and executed product strategies that have transformed how businesses operate at scale. You can articulate a compelling long-term vision while breaking it down into actionable milestones.
  • Technical Leadership: You have experience leading complex technical initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and system integrations. You can understand and navigate technical architecture to make informed trade-off decisions.
  • Customer Empathy: You have a proven ability to deeply understand customer needs and translate complex requirements into elegant solutions. You've shaped product direction based on both qualitative feedback and quantitative data.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: You have strong analytical skills and experience using metrics to drive product decisions and measure success. You can create and execute measurement strategies for new products and features.
  • Results: You have a track record of shipping impactful products that drive measurable business outcomes. You're able to identify and execute on the highest-impact opportunities.
  • Stakeholder Management: You excel at influencing and aligning diverse groups, including executive leadership. You can build consensus across teams and drive decisions forward.
  • Communication: You're an outstanding communicator who can distill complex topics into clear, compelling narratives for different audiences.

Even Better:
  • Experience working with restaurant technology or point of sale systems
  • Understanding of multi-unit restaurant operations and menu management challenges
  • Experience with enterprise software development and scaling products for large organizations
  • MBA or advanced degree

Additional Information
  • Location: US (Remote), EST preferred (not required)
  • Team: Food & Beverage Back Office Management
  • Reports to: Gabi Zandi, F&B Back Office Management Lead

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
