Our Purpose

At Xero, we’re here to supercharge small businesses. By making small businesses more efficient every day, connecting them with big business technology and empowering a community behind them, their potential is limitless. When that happens, we’re not only helping small businesses, we’ll be building a stronger economy that can change the world.

How you’ll make an impact

As a Senior Product Manager in Mobile, you will take ownership of new and existing Mobile products, driving meaningful customer and commercial value. Navigating complex product spaces with ambiguity, you will lead products end-to-end—from early research and ideation right through to implementation and ongoing iteration.

Your product leadership will directly shape Xero's Mobile strategy, ensuring our mobile solutions solve valuable customer problems. By embedding data and customer insights into every decision, you will establish clear product roadmaps and deliver seamless experiences that help our business and our users thrive.

You will join a collaborative, cross-functional mobile product team that works alongside broader product functions, engineering, and design. The team operates with a strong focus on shared delivery rituals, clear cadence, and open communication to align on key strategy and objectives. Together, you will foster a supportive environment focused on continuous learning, coaching, and product practice excellence.

Initially, you will focus on

  • Defining and executing the Mobile product strategy and roadmaps while aligning key workstreams with Xero's overall objectives.

  • Conducting customer engagement and research to identify, frame, and validate high-value problem areas.

  • Establishing team delivery cadences, defining success metrics, and actively participating in quarterly OKR planning.

  • Guiding products through their full lifecycle, managing risk, compliance, and iterative performance improvements.

What you’ll bring with you

  • Experience shipping AI or automation capabilities that measurably reduced manual effort for users.

  • Background in mobile product management, ideally within fintech, accounting, or financial domains.

  • Experience in managing complex products end-to-end, with a track record of translating customer research into actionable product strategies.

  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, capable of building alignment across diverse teams and navigating difficult conversations effortlessly.

  • Comfort navigating complex technical domains and a genuine curiosity for turning intricate systems into simple experiences.

  • Proven ability to coach and mentor colleagues in user research methodologies, product prioritisation, and experimental problem-solving.

  • Decisive approach to product management, prioritizing shippable value over perfection in fast-moving environments.

  • Comfort with setting key product metrics, tracking customer performance, and establishing clear team OKRs.

  • A collaborative mindset with a focus on continuously improving product management practices and team delivery.

Apply even if your experience isn't a perfect match! At Xero, we hire based on your skills, passion, and the unique perspective you can bring to enhance our culture and team.

Where and how you can work

This role offers flexible working arrangements tailored to your needs. We are looking for candidates based in Sydney or Melbourne, with occasional office attendance for team offsites and collaborative planning days. Management focuses on outcomes rather than time-in-seat, offering freedom and flexibility in how you achieve goals

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
