The Opportunity:

Avantor, a Global Fortune 500 company, is looking for a highly motivated and data-driven Senior Product Manager, Life Science Reagents to join our Lab Specialty Products (LSP) business unit. You will have a leading role in shaping our life science reagents portfolio and driving growth. 

The Senior Product Manager, Life Science Reagents will lead the development and execution of product strategies for reagents used in life science applications, aligned with market trends, customer needs, and company goals.    

This role will be a full-time, remote position.  

What we’re looking for

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in life science discipline required (e.g. Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology); M.S. or MBA preferred
  • Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience including:
    • Biopharma, biotechnology, or environmental testing industry
    • Direct portfolio ownership/product management experience
    • Ability to travel up to 30% (domestically & internationally)
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Direct management experience
    • Strategy development
    • Experience with Power BI tool

The Senior Product Manager, Life Science Reagents will own product line performance through strong partnership and influence across sales, supply chain, quality, and marketing functions. With the ability to lead by example and take initiative, the Senior Product Manager, Life Science Reagents will expand the portfolio through strategic new product introductions backed by differentiated positioning.  

Technical and Interpersonal Skills: The successful candidate must have excellent communication and influencing skills to drive progress towards shared goals across various functions and stakeholders. The candidate will also be well-versed in life science markets and multiple business models to drive growth including new product introduction, private label strategies, and supplier relationship management. 

Key responsibilities include:  

  • Owns product line performance, including pricing strategy, margin optimization, and forecasting to meet financial targets and support business expansion.
  • Collaborates with suppliers, marketing, sales, regulatory, and operations teams to drive product development, launch, and lifecycle management.
  • Engages with researchers, lab managers, and industry stakeholders to gather insights and translate them into product requirements and innovation opportunities.
  • Leads development of product roadmap based on deep understanding of life science reagents market and right to win.
  • Monitors scientific advancements, competitor offerings, and regulatory changes to identify growth opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Defines launch plans, messaging, and positioning in collaboration with marketing and sales to ensure successful product introductions and adoption.
  • Identifies unmet needs in research workflows and contributes to ideation and prioritization of new products or enhancements through phased stage gate process.
  • Manages relationships with external suppliers, OEMs, and collaborators to support product development and expand reagent offerings.
  • Promotes a culture of integrity, curiosity, and collaboration within the team, encouraging cross-functional engagement and continuous improvement.

Pay Transparency:

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is

$102,200.00 - $170,300.00

Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
