About the role

Hex is looking for a Senior Product Manager, Growth to join our Growth & Monetization group. This group spans several work streams, including product-led growth (PLG), new user activation, pricing and billing, and new product bets.

Every month, thousands of data scientists and other professionals discover Hex and try the product for the first time. Your job is to make sure their first touch is magical, their path-to-value is swift, and their workflow is forever transformed.

The ideal person for this role is just as excited to dive into funnel metrics as they are to sit down with a customer to unpack their pain points. You’ll own the roadmap and execute on bets across the funnel — from first signup to activation to checkout to seat expansion or sales upsell.  You’ll partner closely with Engineering, Design, Data, Marketing, and Sales to drive measurable business impact, all while upholding Hex’s high quality bar.

This role will be hybrid (1-2 days per week in office) out of our NYC or SF office.

What you will do
  • Own the trial-to-paid funnel. Obsess over conversion from trial to purchase, whether by a self-serve checkout or sales-assisted land. Understand exactly where users are dropping off, form hypotheses, and ship bets that move the needle across onboarding, activation, checkout, and sales outreach.
  • Maximize seat expansion. Think deeply about how customers grow on Hex — how new users activate, how paid seats get promoted, and how we reduce contraction. Work with GTM and lifecycle on PLS signals and automation that surfaces the right accounts at the right time.
  • Run a cross-functional growth pod. Partner with our software engineers, designer, growth marketer, lifecycle marketers, and data team to operate like a startup within Hex. Bring rigor to prioritization, set an ambitious pace for shipping, and keep the team focused on what moves the dial for the business.
  • Balance quantitative reasoning with product sense. Define the metrics that matter, build dashboards to track them, and close the loop on every experiment we run. Determine when an A/B test is appropriate and when to lean on product sense. Proactively identify opportunities by combining data insights with deep customer empathy.
About you
  • 5+ years of product management and/or growth experience, with a track record of owning and improving business metrics.
  • Experience at a PLG or PLS company; you understand how product, sales, and growth loops interact.
  • You think like a business owner: Funnel conversion and revenue growth are outcomes you're accountable for, not just metrics you report on. You run through walls to get the job done.
  • You understand both sides of growth: the quantitative (how is our churn rate trending?), and the qualitative (why do customers in this segment perceive a mismatch in price-to-value?)
  • Excellent communicator — you can distill funnel complexity into a crisp narrative for leadership, and get granular enough to unpack design and implementation details with your eng and design team.
  • We're a growth-stage startup, so we're looking for someone who can ship quickly, iterate, and thrive in ambiguity.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Background in data tools, developer tools, or data analytics.
  • Familiarity with experimentation methodologies and platforms (Eppo, LaunchDarkly).
  • Founder or early-stage startup experience.

In addition to our unique culture, Hex proudly offers a competitive total rewards package, including but not limited to, market-benched salary & equity, comprehensive health benefits, and flexible paid time off.

The salary range for this role is: $189,000 - $236,000.

The salary range shown may be a reflection of additional factors such as geographical location and skill ranges/levels we’re open to. Placement in the salary range will be decided upon completion of the interview process, taking into account factors like leaving room for growth, internal fairness & parity, your demonstrated skills, and the depth of your experience. Our Recruiting team will be able to provide more details during the interview process.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
