Dave vs. Goliath. We’re Dave.

Dave is a financial app on a mission to build products that level the financial playing field. It is redefining the financial landscape by leveraging technology to create an affordable, transparent, and user-centric access to liquidity for millions of Americans. As a leading innovator in the U.S. financial services sector, Dave’s digital financial platform offers products designed to meet the credit needs of those underserved by traditional financial institutions. Dave’s offerings include its flagship ExtraCash product, providing members up to $500 within minutes. The company is on track to launch several new product offerings in 2026, including a Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) option.

Dave is focused on serving Americans who are financially vulnerable or living paycheck to paycheck. Dave is leading the charge in creating a new era of credit products that prioritizes speed, affordability, and accessibility, making it the go-to financial partner for those who need it most.

We're looking for a Senior Product Manager, Engagement & Promotions, to lead the product strategy, implementation, and scaling of promotions and engagement drivers at Dave.

The Opportunity

This role owns how Dave decides which member gets which promotion, at what moment, and why. You'll rapidly experiment and iterate on new promotion types and triggers, and apply machine learning to identify the members most likely to act on them. Beyond promotions, you'll build the engagement layers that give members a reason to return — guidance that helps them manage their finances and a recurring, tangible payoff for staying with Dave.

This is a deeply cross-functional, product-led role at the intersection of product, data science, engineering, and marketing. Success requires quantitative rigor, a working command of ML concepts, and the product judgment to build something members genuinely want.

What You'll Build & Own
  • Set the vision, deliver the results: Own Dave's promotions and engagement roadmap end to end — new promotion types, app home screen experience, and personalization. Decide where ML drives selection and timing, so the right offer goes to the right user at the right time.

  • Ship with speed and conviction: Get ML-driven promotions live and learning quickly, then extend into durable engagement surfaces that guide members' finances and earn their loyalty.

  • Enable flawless execution: Act as the connective tissue across Engineering, Data, Marketing, and Operations, ensuring alignment on priorities, clarity on plans, and efficient execution toward business outcomes.

  • Build a culture of evidence: Build and maintain the experimentation frameworks and infrastructure that let the team test promotion and engagement hypotheses fast, with clean incrementality and honest readouts.

  • Stay ahead of ML and AI evolution: Track what's changing in applied ML and AI and translate it into practical product decisions — sharper targeting, better timing, and more useful guidance for members.

The Impact

Your work defines retention and engagement. You'll build the strategy and the systems Dave uses to scale engagement with the product, driving better outcomes for Dave members.

What We're Looking For

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in Product Management owning engagement, retention, or loyalty programs in a high-volume B2C technology-driven environment

  • Experience working closely with senior leaders, including C-suite, to propose, refine, and ship new initiatives

  • Analytical hunter mindset with strong judgment - able to cut through the noise in complex data to surface insights and drive decisive action.

  • AI-driven curiosity - fluent in applying AI to real product work beyond the basics (e.g., idea generation, data analysis, workflow automation), with the instinct to make teams and leaders smarter through creative AI use cases.

  • Technical curiosity and fluency; a Bachelor's degree in a technical field is a plus.

Bonus

  • Experience building recommendation engines or ML driver promotion services.

  • Experience working in consumer fintech, especially in short-term lending.

What Makes Someone Successful Here

You take responsibility for outcomes, not just roadmaps. You understand how activation, and retention connect - and you make decisions with the full system in mind. You're comfortable working in ambiguity, asking the right questions before committing to a path, and balancing speed with long-term durability. You care about building systems that hold up over time, not just quick wins.

You work well across disciplines and know how to bring people along. You simplify complex ideas, create clarity where there isn't any, and use data to align teams around the right problems. You value feedback and use it to sharpen both your thinking and your product. As priorities evolve, you adapt without losing momentum.

What to Expect

This is a highly cross-functional role with real ownership. You'll have autonomy to shape the promotions and engagement roadmap, alongside partners in Growth, Marketing, Data, and Engineering. The first order of business is getting ML-driven promotions up and running; from there, you own engagement. Priorities will evolve as we learn, but decisions are grounded in data and shared context.

Why Join Dave
  • Work on a product that directly improves financial access for millions of members

  • Own the engagement engine with real scope and visibility

  • Partner with experienced teams across product, marketing, and data

  • Build systems that scale with a fast-growing, profitable fintech

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
