Owlet is changing the world of parenting with meaningful products that truly make a difference for millions of families. Our mission is simple but powerful: to bring more joy, more peace, and more sleep to the parenting journey. We’ve helped more than a million parents keep their little ones safe, and we’re just getting started.

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer with exceptional consumer design expertise, a passion for crafting foundationally great experiences, and a strong background in designing for connected device ecosystems. Reporting to the Head of Design, this role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves solving complex problems end to end, and wants to help shape strategy within a small but growing team.

What You’ll Do at Owlet:

  • Own design problems from early concept through launch and beyond.
  • Bring a strong design point of view into strategic conversations, helping shape the direction of new initiatives in a thoughtful, collaborative way.
  • Create, explore, and iterate on flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity design that demonstrate exceptional interaction and visual design craft.
  • Design holistic experiences across connected devices, understanding how hardware and software come together for parents.
  • Conduct usability testing, gather insights, and use learnings to refine and improve the experience continuously.
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering to ship simple, supportive, parent-centered experiences.
  • Collaborate with other designers and cross-functional partners to maintain a consistent, cohesive design language across the Owlet ecosystem.
  • Help maintain, scale, and evolve our Figma design system and component library to support fast, clear execution.
  • Use Owlet products regularly to understand the journey firsthand and identify opportunities to elevate the experience for families.
  • Influence and support digital experiences across Owlet, ensuring a cohesive, parent-centered brand experience

Requirements

The Must Haves:

  • You have 5+ years of experience designing for mobile and you know iOS and Android patterns deeply. You care about the craft and it shows in the details.
  • You have a strong portfolio of consumer app work that demonstrates your ability to take a problem from insight to polished, meaningful experience.
  • You communicate clearly and confidently, grounding your decisions in both qualitative and quantitative data.
  • You bring strong visual and interaction design skills, and you know how to create interfaces that feel intuitive, modern, and thoughtful.
  • You can prototype your ideas to express nuance, explore possibilities, and bring your thinking to life.
  • You’re comfortable working on a remote or distributed team and know how to collaborate, share context, and stay connected.
  • You have experience with journey mapping and strategic design, and you know how to connect the dots across the full experience.
  • You’re fluent in Figma and know how to build within and contribute to a design system.
  • Most importantly, you show up without ego. You love working with others, listening, iterating, and building experiences that truly make life better for millions of parents.
    Bonus
  • Experience in the baby category is a bonus, with additional value placed on experience designing for connected device ecosystems.
  • Experience exploring or prototyping with AI tools or emerging design technologies
  • Experience with ecommerce or conversion-focused consumer experiences

Benefits

Owlet offers a comprehensive benefits package that supports your health, financial well-being, and work-life balance:

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
