Why This Role Matters

At Built, we’re transforming one of the most complex, high-impact industries in fintech: construction finance. As a Senior Product Designer, you’ll take on the challenge of turning regulated, high-stakes workflows into experiences that feel simple, clear, and human. You’ll design for measurable impact — shaping products that power billions in loans and directly changing how capital flows through the economy.

This is a chance to do career-defining work in a space that has been largely untouched by modern design.

What You’ll Do
  • Own design strategy within a core product area, from discovery through delivery and iteration.

  • Lead discovery and research: uncover customer needs, validate ideas, and translate insights into product direction.

  • Shape workflows and systems: create user flows, journey maps, wireframes, and prototypes to bring clarity to complex problems.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and client-facing teams to influence roadmap decisions and ensure thoughtful execution.

  • Measure outcomes: use data and behavioral metrics to evaluate design decisions and refine experiences.

  • Evolve the design system by identifying gaps, contributing patterns, and ensuring consistency across products.

  • Advocate for users at every step — through storytelling, inclusive design practices, and accessibility best practices.

  • Mentor and elevate the team: provide feedback, model strong process, and strengthen design culture.

  • Contribute to growing the team by participating in hiring, onboarding, and cross-functional initiatives.

What We’re Looking For
  • 5+ years designing and shipping digital products, ideally in SaaS or complex B2B environments.

  • Proven ability to own end-to-end design projects — from framing the problem to post-launch iteration.

  • Experience designing for measurable outcomes, not just aesthetics.

  • Comfort navigating complex or regulated workflows — or the curiosity and rigor to master them quickly.

  • Strength in systems thinking and experience contributing to design systems.

  • Fluency in Figma and ability to clearly present and defend design decisions.

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills — able to influence cross-functional partners with clear rationale and focus on outcomes.

  • Bonus: familiarity with accessibility best practices, front-end basics (HTML/CSS/JS), or React-based systems.

Built’s salary range for this position is $125,000-$170,000 USD per year. The pay range is designed to accommodate upward mobility in the role, therefore it encompasses the full span of proficiency levels for this role and we believe that the midpoint of the range is competitive in the market. Salary is just one component of Built's total compensation package for employees. Your total rewards package at Built will include equity, top-notch medical, dental and vision coverage, an unlimited PTO policy, and other benefits.

Perks:

  • The rare opportunity to radically disrupt an industry
  • Competitive benefits including: uncapped vacation, health, dental & vision insurance, and 401k
  • Robust compensation package including base salary and equity
  • Flexible working hours, paid family leave, ERGs & Mentorship opportunities
  • Learning grant program to support ongoing professional development

Our company is made up of passionate people who are driven in a variety of disciplines—and each of them brings their unique perspective to everything they do. Creating a safe and inclusive workplace is critical to the success of our company and of our employees, so it’s our aim to recruit, hire and promote without bias against race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, veteran status or any other status protected by applicable law. As we learn and as we grow, we’re committed to ensuring that these ideals are at the forefront of everything we do.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
