What we’re looking for
As a Senior Product Designer in our Authoring Team, you will have the opportunity to innovate our survey-taking experience, improving the customer experience with modern interaction and bold visual appeal. You’ll translate complex customer needs into intuitive experiences, partnering closely with Product Management, Engineering, Research and others to define and deliver an experience that drives engagement and brand health. We’re looking for a hands-on experienced contributor who can shape design strategy, mentor more junior designers, and champion a user-centric culture across the company.
At SurveyMonkey, our Product Designers blend deep user empathy with data-driven decision-making. You’ll combine your expertise in interaction and visual design with your ability to synthesize user research and analytics to set design direction. You’ll influence roadmaps, establish best practices, and ensure consistency through our design system while still rolling up your sleeves to craft pixels and prototypes.
What you’ll be working on
- Lead the full product design lifecycle for the survey taker experience, from discovery and user research through high-fidelity mockups and interactive prototypes.
- Conduct and synthesize qualitative and quantitative user research (interviews, usability tests, analytics) to inform design decisions.
- Develop and maintain components in our design system to ensure visual consistency and scalability.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers to define requirements, write clear design briefs, and align on success metrics.
- Partner with Engineering to validate feasibility, iterate on solutions, and ensure pixel-perfect implementation.
- Mentor and provide constructive feedback to mid- and junior-level designers; foster continuous learning within the team.
- Advocate for best practices in UX, accessibility, and inclusive design across the organization.
- Present design concepts and user flows to stakeholders, incorporating feedback and driving alignment.
- Analyze post-launch performance data to identify opportunities for iteration and optimization.
- Help shape design team processes, standards, and documentation to improve efficiency and quality.
We’d love to hear from people with
- 8+ years of professional product design experience, preferably in a SaaS or B2B environment.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating user-centered design process, problem framing, and polished end-to-end solutions.
- Expertise in Figma (or equivalent tools) for wireframing, prototyping, and design system maintenance.
- Proficient in conducting and synthesizing both qualitative (user interviews, usability tests) and quantitative (analytics) research.
- Deep understanding of interaction design principles, visual design, motion design, and information architecture.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional partners.
- Experience mentoring and coaching designers; passion for growing design talent.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design methodologies.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a fast-paced, agile environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
SurveyMonkey believes in-person collaboration is valuable for building relationships, fostering community, and enhancing our speed and execution in problem-solving and decision-making. As such, you will be required to work from a SurveyMonkey office up to 1 day per week.
