We are open to remote candidates.

Metalab creates products loved by billions around the world, shaping how we work, live, and play. You've likely interacted with many of the products we've helped bring to life. Now, we're looking for a Senior Product Designer to help us craft the future.

As a Senior Product Designer, you'll bring a refined ability to balance form and function, while navigating the needs of both clients and users. You're not just a designer; you're a strategic thinker and a collaborator at heart. We’re an end-to-end digital product studio, so you'll apply your design expertise across every phase of the process—from research to wireframes to visual design. We’re looking for someone who thrives in dynamic, evolving environments and is truly passionate about design and product.

What you’ll do

  • Collaborate with and support your team to design and build products that you feel genuinely proud of.
  • Apply your design thinking and execution skills throughout the entire product lifecycle, keeping a keen eye on opportunities to step in and step up.
  • Help shape the visual identity of products, whether that’s translating an existing brand or creating a visual identity from scratch.
  • Participate in design team reviews, sharing, and brainstorms.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of product design experience at a digital product agency or consultancy.
  • A portfolio that reflects your strengths in both UX and visual design skills.
  • Solid experience in prototyping and interaction design.
  • A strong foundation in visual and interaction design principles.
  • Fluent in translating stakeholder goals, user research, and complex user flows into intuitive user interfaces.
  • Demonstrated interest in staying ahead of desktop and mobile best practices, developments, and trends in web, mobile, and iOS design.
  • Strong ability to deliver compelling design rationale in both client and internal contexts.
  • Motivated by feedback and the opportunity to improve the work and how you come together as a team.

Equal opportunity employer

Research shows that women and other marginalized groups tend to only apply for a job when they meet every single criteria. Does this role sound like it was made for you, yet you don’t check every box? Reach out anyways!  We’re an equal opportunity employer and are dedicated to fostering an inclusive and diverse environment for employees from all walks of life.  We hire based on talent, and we’re proud of our global perspective.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
