Join HubSpot’s DPG UX Team: Designing for Developers

The Developer Product Group builds the tools necessary for HubSpot’s growing customer base to get the most out of their HubSpot accounts. We own and deliver a best-in-class set of developer tools that unlock added power, data, features, and insights for HubSpot’s customers through custom-built apps, extensions, and integrations. Our tooling provides external developers with everything they need—from support to ramp up quickly to the tools necessary to build and test apps, integrations, workflows, and CMS customizations. We continuously partner with teams across HubSpot to unlock new and powerful ways to customize and extend the scaling HubSpot product.

What Sets DPG UX Apart?
  • Craft & Impact: You build enterprise-grade developer tools that empower HubSpot's developer ecosystem to create rich experiences for millions of users worldwide. With a builder's mindset and passion for exceptional developer experiences, you use design and systems thinking to prototype cohesive end-to-end workflows.
  • AI & Data: Our teams lead the charge in AI innovation, from launching game-changing connectors for ChatGPT and Claude to pioneering HubSpot's MCP Server that enables millions to work at the speed of AI. We leverage data to diagnose complex challenges while using design excellence to craft elegant solutions.
  • End-to-End Ownership: Shape a comprehensive platform serving both internal teams and external developers through UI extensions, OAuth flows, custom workflow actions, and cutting-edge agentic tools. Your ecosystem thinking spans the entire HubSpot universe, connecting diverse use cases across customers and products.
  • Global Scale & Foundation: Craft foundational systems for world-class SaaS that directly impacts hundreds of thousands of developers and users across the globe.
  • Innovate What's Next: Build the future of developer experiences and AI-enhanced workflows by providing vibe-coding experiences for developers and non-developers alike, plus next-generation MCP servers that redefine how HubSpot customers get work done.
What You'll Do as a SPDII, User Interface Extensions, Developer Product Group:
  • Design Extensible Surfaces for Developers: Navigate the feature-rich and highly technical landscape of development platforms with confidence. Obsess over UI component design and systems thinking to craft highly extensible UI libraries for developers. Empower developers to build feature-rich, delightful experiences for HubSpot customers.
  • Join a Builder’s Culture: Embrace the philosophy that a prototype is worth a thousand meetings. Maintain a bias toward building, consistently using tools like Cursor, V0, and Lovable to create proof-of-concepts that demonstrate possibilities and accelerate stakeholder understanding.
  • Lead with a Clear Vision: Synthesize complex narratives into bite-sized strategic insights. Lead from the front with a proactive industry perspective, knowing how to activate partners and teams around blue-sky visions that push organizational boundaries and unlock new opportunities.
What You’ll Bring To HubSpot
  • Proven Product Design Craft Expertise: To stand out in the application process, share a portfolio that showcases depth of craft, systems thinking, and measurable impact on users and the business, especially in complex, scalable, or platform environments.
  • Collaborative Leadership: A history of influencing outcomes across disciplines by building trust, driving alignment, and championing user-centric solutions.
  • Systems and Scale Thinking: Passion for connecting the dots across products and platforms, designing experiences that grow with our customers and business needs.
  • Adaptability & Change Readiness: Comfort with ambiguity and a proactive mindset in the face of change. You’re energized by new challenges and thrive in a dynamic, evolving environment.
  • AI & Automation Curiosity: Excitement to work with (and continue learning about) AI and automation—whether to elevate customer experiences or optimize how we design and deliver.
  • Growth Mindset: A genuine drive to constantly learn, share knowledge, and help yourself and others get better, every day.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
