We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer with a passion for building technical tools. You’ll be working on the Datadog Application Performance Monitoring (APM) product which provides deep visibility into applications, enabling users to identify performance bottlenecks, troubleshoot issues, and optimize services. With distributed tracing, profiling, out-of-the-box dashboards, and seamless correlation with other telemetry data, Datadog APM helps ensure the best possible performance and user experience for client’s end user applications. As one of the three pillars of observability, APM is one of the most highly-used products in the Datadog app and central to many key workflows.

You’ll act as a leader within the APM product team, building deep product knowledge in a complex space and advocating for a great user experience.

At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

What You’ll Do:

  • Work with product managers, engineers, and other designers to quickly iterate and ship great product experiences
  • Become the expert in your product area, learn the technical intricacies of the product and be able to navigate the opportunities and constraints of the product
  • Learn about users and transform their needs into compelling design solutions
  • See your design work through from start to finish: turn insights and requirements into ideas, sketch and prototype to bring them to life, and ship products and features that make Datadog better
  • Mentor other designers
  • Communicate your design decisions effectively
  • Collaborate with other designers in the company to maintain platform consistency

Who You Are:

  • You have 5+ years of experience in digital product design
  • You have demonstrated experience designing complex products
  • Your portfolio includes a proven track record of shipping interaction design work in web applications
  • You are able to clearly communicate your design decisions
  • You understand systems thinking and component-based design patterns
  • You are a strong visual designer and storyteller
  • You can be proactive and lead your work from start to finish, balancing priorities and managing stakeholders
  • You give and receive feedback well, supporting and improving the work of your colleagues as well as your own

Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.

Benefits and Growth:

  • New hire stock equity (RSUs) and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP)
  • Continuous professional development, product training, and career pathing
  • Intradepartmental mentor and buddy program for in-house networking
  • An inclusive company culture, ability to join our Community Guilds (Datadog employee resource groups)
  • Access to Inclusion Talks, our internal panel discussions
  • Free, global mental health benefits for employees and dependents age 6+
  • Competitive global benefits

Benefits and Growth listed above may vary based on the country of your employment and the nature of your employment with Datadog.

Datadog offers a competitive salary and equity package, and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
