Instrument is a design and technology company. We build brands, products, and experiences that move businesses forward—by making the complex simple.

For over 20 years, we’ve partnered with companies like Google, ServiceNow, Uber, Eventbrite, and ŌURA, helping them navigate change, launch new ideas, and grow with intention.

Our work spans Brand, Marketing, and Product, but what defines us is how we work. We bring strategy, design, and engineering together from the start, moving quickly from idea to execution and refining as we go. We aim to do great work and be great to work with, because both matter.

We’re a collaborative, hands-on team with roots in Portland and New York and a distributed presence across the U.S. and Europe. We build teams around the needs of the work, staying nimble without sacrificing craft.

We value curiosity, perspective, and continuous learning, and we’re committed to building an inclusive environment where people can do their best work.

If that sounds like you, we’d love to meet you.

The Role

We're looking for a Senior Producer who thrives in complexity, ambiguity, and fast-moving environments. This role will lead a portfolio of work for a long-standing strategic client relationship, supporting initiatives that span brand strategy, storytelling, digital experiences, communications, campaigns, and content.

Success in this role requires someone who can confidently navigate multiple workstreams, shifting priorities, and a broad range of stakeholders while helping teams stay focused on delivering exceptional work. You'll partner closely with strategists, writers, designers, technologists, and client stakeholders to guide projects from early conversations through final delivery.

This isn't a role where every project arrives with a clear brief and defined requirements. You'll help teams uncover the problem, shape the path forward, and create clarity where ambiguity exists. You'll be expected to think strategically about the work, facilitate productive conversations, and help both internal teams and clients navigate feedback to arrive at stronger outcomes.

What You'll Do

  • Lead large, challenging, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish, leveraging creative, strategic, and insightful project approaches
  • Create and actively manage all aspects of a project plan to ensure the work is completed to meet goals and expectations
  • Provide value and support throughout the entire project cycle by influencing the work, the clients, and the team with specific and impactful production tactics
  • Have an expert understanding of and curiosity about brands, marketing and best in class digital execution
  • Balance innovation and practicality in your production approaches and evaluation of the work being made
  • Embody our proactive work approaches. You know when to take the initiative, work independently or collaboratively, think big or small to be 10 steps ahead
  • Communicate ideas well in all written and verbal interactions in order to build strong relationships and inform the right actions are taken
  • Find a way through every scenario with positivity and a sense a calm as both a good team member and client partner

What You'll Bring

  • 5-8 years experience as Producer on complex projects, including marketing, brand strategy, social and content execution.
  • Experience directly managing enterprise-level clients as well as large, multidisciplinary internal project teams with respect
  • Ability to “translate” between team/clients/work, keeping everyone’s interests and needs integrated as part of a project’s successful completion
  • Experience confidently facilitating and actively engaging with digital project management processes, approaches, and tactics

Pay Range

  • The expected pay range for this position is $85,000-$110,000. We have three regional pay ranges that are adjusted for cost of living (US1 +15%, US2 +7.5%, US3 Base), learn more about our pay philosophy and cost of living adjustments

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
