Bonfire Studios is seeking a seasoned Senior Publishing Producer to lead and coordinate publishing efforts for our upcoming title, Arkheron. In this pivotal role, you will serve as the primary liaison between our development team and external publishing partners, ensuring that our game's vision is effectively communicated and executed across all publishing channels. This position offers the flexibility to tailor your contributions based on your expertise, allowing for a focus on driving successful launch moments and coordinating seamlessly across all stakeholders.

This role includes:

  • Strategic Planning & Execution: Develop and manage comprehensive publishing plans that align with our game's development milestones and overall business objectives. You'll be a key driver for various "launch moments," coordinating everything from builds and server setup to audience understanding, working closely with both publishing and development teams.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with internal teams (marketing, QA, analytics, localization) and external partners to ensure cohesive and timely execution of publishing strategies. This includes connecting dots across development and the studio, understanding dependencies for all launch moments, and leveraging your experience to ensure smooth execution.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as the central point of contact for all publishing-related communications, providing regular updates and facilitating feedback loops between stakeholders. You will be a strong communicator and organizer, driving individuals to complete their tasks and focusing on immediate next steps.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks in publishing timelines and strategies, implementing proactive solutions to mitigate issues.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously assess and refine publishing processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness, creating flexible workflows that can be iterated on in live service environments.
  • Expertise Gaps & Support: Coordinate efforts related to localization, player support, and player support moderation, serving as a key connector for these critical areas. While not a creative asset producer, you will coordinate with creative asset producers. You should have global experience and integrate international teams into our processes.

We're excited about you because:

  • You have a minimum of 7 years in game publishing or production roles, with at least 3 years in a senior capacity overseeing strategic publishing operations.
  • You have a proven track record of managing complex publishing projects from inception to launch, preferably in the multiplayer or live-service game sector.
  • You demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, adept at conveying complex information clearly and concisely across a global audience.
  • You thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy working with diverse teams.
  • You possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.
  • You are familiar with current trends in game publishing, including digital distribution, live-service models, and community engagement strategies.
  • You have an understanding of game development pipelines and tools, enabling effective communication with development teams.
  • You embrace a growth mindset and are eager to learn and contribute, continuously assessing and refining publishing processes.
  • You have a strong passion for games and the creative process, striving for a high bar of excellence in our creations.

What's not a fit:

  • Highly Structured, Traditional Leadership: Our collaborative, flat structure means everyone has a voice and contributes to decision-making. A preference for more hierarchical leadership styles might not feel like the best fit here.
  • Highly Independent Working Style: This role thrives on seamless collaboration across disciplines and teams. Someone who prefers to work largely independently might find it challenging to integrate effectively.
  • Comfort with Static Processes: At Bonfire, we’re committed to constant iteration and improvement. If you’re most comfortable with established processes and less interested in refining them over time, this environment might not be ideal.

Why you'll love working at Bonfire Studios:

  • Openness and humility: We value curiosity, peer support, and tackling challenges together.
  • Collaborative, non-hierarchical culture: Everyone has a voice, and you can shape your role to have a big impact.
  • Belief in iteration: We know that great games come from constant improvement—and that great tools make the difference. We celebrate craft expertise because we are a small, tight-knit group of highly experienced game developers who are as passionate about our team as we are our game.
  • People first: We believe great games are made by great teams, and we’re committed to supporting each other every step of the way. We have strong values that include transparency, ownership, and trust. We are a people-first studio that also strives for a high bar of excellence in our creations.
  • Passion for player experiences: Our goal is to empower developers and create unforgettable experiences for players.
  • We offer opportunities to learn and contribute beyond your focused discipline in areas of interest or passion.
  • We practice candor and feedback, leveling ourselves and each other up in the process.
  • We play games and have fun together, kindling our own love for games and learning about each other.

The base salary for this position as a Senior is $196,500 annually. If your experience is more (principal level) or less (mid-level), your salary will be more/less than that rate (based on market data). We consider candidates' potential impact holistically, not just their years of experience or skill level. There is also more to our total comp package than salary, we offer equity to every new hire as well as a comprehensive benefits package and more. We will be happy to share more about our compensation opportunities when we chat with you!

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
