Role: Senior Process Engineer

Location: San Diego, CA (in-office)

Salary Range: $120,000 - $160,000 / yr + stock options, 401k matching, and other benefits

Role Overview:

Seasats designs and deploys unmanned surface vessels that operate at sea for months at a time.  As we scale production, this role will design and own the manufacturing processes, documentation, and data that turn a validated design into a repeatable, high-quality build, from process routings and work instructions in our MES, that keep our lines running smoothly. If you’re a process-minded engineer who loves designing the systems and documentation that make production repeatable at scale, this role is for you.

Role Details:

• Designing and developing manufacturing processes, operation sequences, and process routings, and maintaining them in our MES 
• Translating engineering drawings, GD&T, and BOMs into clear, visual work instructions and standard operating procedures for production 
• Identifying and implementing process controls that verify functional requirements and design intent, including methods to screen for potential failure modes 
• Collecting and analyzing manufacturing data, such as cycle time, yield, and defect rates, to identify bottlenecks and prioritize continuous improvement 
• Leading root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action on manufacturing and process non-conformances 
• Owning process transition from prototype through new product introduction (NPI) to full-rate production, partnering with cross-functional engineering teams 

About You:

• A Bachelor’s degree or relevant coursework in manufacturing, mechanical, industrial engineering, or a related technical field 
• 5+ years of relevant process engineering experience in a manufacturing or production environment (aerospace, defense, or maritime industry a plus) 
• Skilled at reading and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T 
• Comfortable working with MES, ERP, or PLM systems to own process routings and documentation 
• Proficient analyzing manufacturing data (Excel, Power BI, Minitab, or similar) to drive decisions 
• Comfortable operating in a startup environment where processes may not be fully established, with enthusiasm for helping build solid foundations 
• You work quickly, adapt, and thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth culture 
• You enjoy sharing knowledge and best practices with colleagues, even without formal mentoring or people-management responsibilities
