The typical base pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $100,000 - $130,000 per year.  GEA Group has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States.

The pay range is not guaranteed compensation or salary.  The estimated range is the budgeted amount for the position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.  You may be eligible for additional rewards, such as a discretionary bonus (based on eligibility) and/or equity awards.

Join GEA’s Beverage & Filling team as a Process Engineer I, where you’ll play a critical role supporting the design, development, commissioning, and optimization of cutting-edge process systems. From initial customer meetings through final system handover, you’ll collaborate cross-functionally to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions that exceed expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • This position is based in our Hudson, WI office or can be performed remotely.

  • Participate in all phases of projects—from initial customer meetings to engineering, commissioning, and optimization.

  • Provide technical ownership of process design areas while ensuring compliance with time, budget, and scope.

  • Collaborate across disciplines to meet project goals, maintain design integrity, and reduce errors or omissions.

  • Prepare and develop:

    • Block Flow Diagrams (BFDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), and P&IDs

    • Equipment and utility specifications

    • General arrangement drawings, heat/mass balances, and functional descriptions

  • Plan and execute software Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), test procedures, and commissioning plans.

  • Lead or support site commissioning and train customer personnel on GEA systems.

  • Maintain technical documentation, support change management, and evaluate third-party proposals.

  • Conduct plant audits, HAZOP safety reviews, and ensure adherence to environmental, safety, and sanitary standards.

  • Offer pre-sale/post-sale support through evaluations, pilot trials, presentations, and ongoing troubleshooting.

  • Build and maintain customer relationships in partnership with sales managers.

  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technology improvement efforts in collaboration with GEA's global teams.

Your Profile / Qualifications

Your Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, Food Technology, or related.

  • 8+ years’ engineering experience (food, dairy, or beverage sector preferred).

  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and technical design tools.

  • Willing to travel up to 40% for commissioning and customer support.
