Job Summary: This position partners with GEICO's Specialty Underwriting, Research, Marketing, and Finance teams to support actuarial pricing needs for Commercial, Motorcycle, Recreational Vehicle, Umbrella, and Boat products. The work of this position includes providing thought leadership on analytical problems, working across department functions to influence business strategy and decision making, and leading implementation of solutions for technical problems.

Candidates wishing to pursue an actuarial exam credential will be supported in this role, but it is not a prerequisite.

Both Hybrid (Chevy Chase, MD) and Remote opportunities are available for this position.

In this role, you can expect to

  • Partner across a team including Pricing, Product, R&D, Marketing, and Finance understand the impacts of external environment changes on the book of business and to influence strategic decision making. Clearly communicate results and methodologies to fellow business owners.

  • Monitor and report on performance trends for expected loss ratios and underlying rate indications. Evaluate pricing/customer segmentation opportunities.

  • Provide thought leadership for developing indications and targets, and for improving efficiency, transparency, and quality of indications. Resolve issues as they arise. Provide line of business pricing expertise.

  • Lead and improve analysis, selection, and communication of core actuarial work including trend selections and rate filings.

 Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher with an emphasis in Finance, Mathematics, or related field of study or commensurate experience. 3-7 years of experience.

  • Actuarial or Actuary experience in Insurance Industry preferred.

  • Proven statistical analysis experience, applying both qualitative and quantitative information to solve business problems.

  • Knowledge of actuarial pricing techniques and principles.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Team player.


 

Annual Salary

$100,450.00 - $212,175.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
