Job Description

We're seeking a strategic and dynamic Portfolio Marketing Manager to drive go-to-market strategy, positioning, and growth for Nearmap's Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) and Government solutions. This role sits at the critical intersection of product, sales, and customers—translating complex AI-driven property intelligence into compelling value propositions that resonate with our customers.

You'll be an industry domain expert on our marketing team, deeply understanding customer workflows, pain points, and buying processes. You'll craft messaging that cuts through the noise, create enablement that empowers our sales team, and develop thought leadership that positions Nearmap as the essential partner for property intelligence.

This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives on connecting technical innovation to business outcomes and wants to shape how an entire industry approaches property risk.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Positioning & Messaging

  • Define the GTM targeting: Partner with Sales and Product to define the ideal customer profile (ICP) and targeted market/account segmentation
  • Own the narrative for AEC and Government: Develop and refine positioning, messaging, and value propositions for Nearmap's AEC and Government Solutions
  • Translate technical to transformational: Turn AI-driven property intelligence capabilities into compelling stories about business outcomes (faster assessments, more won bids, reduced inspection costs, etc.)
  • Competitive intelligence: Partner with Product to monitor competitive landscape, identify differentiation opportunities, and equip sales with competitive battle cards
  • Personas and Segment-specific messaging: Identify and document the appropriate buyer and user personas and their challenges and pain points.  Tailor positioning for different  buyer personas
  • Solution packaging: Partner with Product to define and package solutions that address specific insurance use cases

Go-to-Market Strategy & Execution

  • Launch excellence: Lead product and solution launch strategy and execution for new AEC and Government capabilities, features, and market expansions.  This includes differentiated messaging and positioning for the new capabilities as well as liaising with all Marketing functions to bring to market (PR, Web)
  • Sales enablement: Partner with Product and Enablement to create high-impact sales tools including pitch decks, competitive positioning, battlecards, objection handling guides, and discovery frameworks
  • Sales Plays: Own the strategy and development of sales plays to target specific use cases and ICPs with targeted offers; and then enabling sales to execute effectively
  • Pipeline generation: Partner with Growth Marketing to develop and execute demand generation campaigns to drive qualified opportunities
  • Partner marketing: Collaborate with strategic partners on co-marketing initiatives

Content & Thought Leadership

  • Thought leadership: Partner with Reputation Marketing to develop POV content, industry reports, and research that establishes Nearmap as the authority on AI-driven property intelligence for AEC and Government
  • Content strategy: Partner with marketing peers to create comprehensive content plan addressing each stage of  buyer journey (awareness → consideration → decision → retention)
  • Conference presence: Partner with Growth Marketing and Sales to identify key conferences and coordinate speaking opportunities, booth presence, and event strategy
  • Product evangelism: Serve as an advocate for and educator of Nearmap’s solutions in webinars, on demo stages, and at other meetings and events.

GTM Analysis

  • Success metrics tracking: Partner with RevOps to define and monitor key performance indicators forGTM programs (pipeline contribution, win rates, sales cycle length, message effectiveness)
  • Win-Loss analysis: Lead data-driven win-loss assessment, partnering with RevOps and Sales, and segment insight by industry, account size, use cases, and geography

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in product marketing, solutions marketing, or go-to-market strategy roles (B2B SaaS strongly preferred)
  • Proven track record launching products and driving adoption in complex enterprise sales environments
  • Experience developing positioning, messaging, and sales enablement for technical products
  • Strong storytelling ability—can translate technical capabilities into compelling business narratives
  • 2+ years experience working in (and selling to) AEC or Government organizations highly desired
  • Understanding of AEC or Government workflows: property assessment, remote site inspection, bid pursuit, site planning, emergency response, etc.
  • Knowledge of AEC or Government buyer personas, decision-making processes, budget cycles, and procurement requirements

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
