The role

Quanata is seeking a Platform DevEx Engineer to join us in providing a suite of solutions that enable our product development and engineering organization to create, and deliver Quanata’s technical offerings. Our team focuses on enabling software engineers to reliably and rapidly deliver software, and manage the company’s cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a background in the software development lifecycle, and experience as a Site Reliability Engineer.

Your day-to-day
  1. Design and develop the platform architecture to enable developers to self service in building out infrastructure.
  2. Collaborate with development teams to ensure their applications are optimized for deployment in an IAC environment, and meet security and compliance needs.
  3. Develop and maintain automation and deployment processes to enable and improve developer experience and efficiency.
  4. Implement monitoring and logging solutions to ensure the platform is performing at its best and identify areas for improvement.
  5. Encourage developer autonomy and self-service by contributing to developer training and documentation for Platform products.
  6. Promote a supportive culture focused on building reliable systems and processes based on established best practices in the industry.
  7. Troubleshoot and resolve issues in the platform, including performance and scalability issues.
  8. Participate in on-call rotation to provide support for internal developer services.
About you
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent relevant professional experience and;
  • Typically requires 6-8 years of experience to include:
    • 2 or more years of experience designing and operating scalable, resilient systems in production environments.
    • 3 or more years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or SRE roles.
  • Experience and understanding of CI/CD processes and tooling such as GitLab, Github, or Jenkins.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Go, Python, TypeScript, or Java).
  • Experience and understanding of Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.
  • Strong experience managing observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, etc.) and incident response tooling (PagerDuty, Opsgenie, etc.).
  • Experience working in GCP or AWS.
  • Enjoy automating infrastructure but engage in understanding your customer needs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to contribute during code reviews, and capture tasks.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and great attention to detail.
  • Strong collaboration skills and flexibility
Bonus points
  • Experience with Backstage, Port, or other developer portal tooling.
  • Prior involvement in running developer surveys or gathering feedback to guide DevEx improvements.

Salary: $225,000 to $285,000*

*Please note that the final salary offered will be determined based on the selected candidate's skills, and experience, as well as the internal salary structure at Quanata. Our aim is to offer a competitive and equitable compensation package that reflects the candidate's expertise and contributions to our organization.

  • Work from Home Equipment: Given our virtual environment— in order to set you up for success at home, a one-time payment of $2K will be provided to cover the purchase of in-home office equipment and furniture at your discretion. Also, our teams work with MacBook Pros, which we will deliver to you fully provisioned prior to your first day.
  • Paid Time Off: All employees accrue four weeks of PTO in their first year of employment.  New parents receive twelve weeks of fully paid parental leave which may be taken within one year after the birth and/or adoption of a child. The twelve weeks is applicable to both birthing and non-birthing parent.

  • Location: We are a remote-first company for most positions so you may work from anywhere you like in the U.S, excluding U.S. territories. For most positions, occasional travel may be requested or encouraged but is not required. Some positions might require travel per the job description provided to the employee. Employees based in the San Francisco Bay Area or in Providence, Rhode Island may commute to one of our local offices as desired.  
  • Hours: We maintain core meeting hours from 9AM - 2PM Pacific time for collaborating with team members across all time zones.
