Dandy is transforming the massive and antiquated dental industry—an industry worth over $400B. Backed by some of the world’s leading venture capital firms, we’re on an ambitious mission to simplify and modernize every function of the dental practice through technology. As we expand our reach globally, Dandy is building the operating system for dental offices around the world—empowering clinicians and their teams with technology, innovation, and world-class support to achieve more for their practices, their people, and their patients.

About the Role

Dandy is building a machine learning-driven dental design engine. The gap between an ML program that transforms operations and one that stalls comes down to whether someone can scope the problem clearly, design the data collection programs that feed the model, bring a 400-person workforce of highly skilled designers along on new tooling, and track whether any of it is actually working.

We're hiring an ML Operations Lead to sit on our Special Operations team and own the planning and execution of our highest-priority ML incubation projects. You'll define workstreams, collect and interpret data, drive alignment across stakeholders, and manage implementation from scoping through delivery. You'll also build the training programs that upskill our workforce on ML-related workflows and stand up the testing infrastructure that tells us whether new models are ready to deploy.

What You'll Do

Own ML Data Collection & Incubation Programs

  • Define and scope complex operational challenges into clear, actionable workstreams with measurable success criteria

  • Plan and execute data collection programs that feed Dandy's highest-priority ML initiatives

  • Monitor project health, measure operational efficiency, and flag implementation risks

  • Synthesize updates into clear status reports that drive alignment and keep projects on track

Build ML Workforce Enablement Programs

  • Design and lead training programs that upskill our manufacturing and DDC workforce on ML-related tools, workflows, and expectations

  • Own the full cycle from needs assessment through delivery and iteration, and adjust quickly when something isn't working

Stand Up Model Testing Infrastructure

  • Build the operational framework for testing new ML models in a live workforce environment

  • Define success criteria, coordinate across Operations and Quality teams, and create the reporting that makes model performance visible to decision-makers

Drive Stakeholder Alignment

  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans to monitor progress against milestones and deliverables

  • Build coalitions of support across teams includingML, Operations, Quality, and People

  • Communicate clearly across multiple levels and cultural contexts

What We're Looking For

  • 2–4 years of experience in startups, corporate operations, consulting, or a similar environment where you've owned work end-to-end

  • Data-driven: comfortable using SQL, Looker, or similar tools

  • Strong program and project management skills, including experience using tools like Asana or Jira to plan and track activities

  • The ability to influence a variety of stakeholders

  • Clear, direct communicator who can navigate multiple cultural contexts with ease

  • Self-starter with high ownership, sharp detail orientation, and the ability to drive clarity in ambiguous environments

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally on short notice

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field

Bonus Points For

  • Exposure to machine learning or program management

  • Experience building or meaningfully improving a training or enablement program for a non-technical workforce

  • Background in manufacturing, industrial operations, or precision production environments

  • Outstanding professional references who can speak to your ownership, judgment, and ability to execute through ambiguity

  • Relentlessly positive attitude, strong sense of humor, and the ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
