The Senior Network Engineer will design and support a global trading network, manage context feeds, enforce security, and develop automation scripts.
Verition Fund Management LLC (“Verition”) is a multi-strategy, multi-manager hedge fund founded in 2008. Verition focuses on global investment strategies including Global Credit, Global Convertible, Volatility & Capital Structure Arbitrage, Event-Driven Investing, Equity Long/Short & Capital Markets Trading, and Global Quantitative Trading.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and support a global multi-vendor trading network.
- Lead greenfield buildouts of colocation and proximity datacenters, ensuring resiliency, performance, and compliance.
- Manage multicast market data feeds across global exchanges and provide direct support to algorithmic trading teams.
- Own and enforce perimeter security with Palo Alto NGFW, including VPN tunnels, NAT, and strict policy design.
- Support and optimize PTP/NTP timing infrastructure critical to trading environments.
- Develop automation scripts using Python/Ansible to increase operational efficiency
- Configure and maintain F5 LTM/GTM for IP traffic management and DNS load balancing.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues using tcpdump, Wireshark, and other packet analysis tools.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align network priorities with trading strategies.
- Maintain detailed network documentation, enhance monitoring, and provide 24x7 on-call support.
- Plan global circuit capacity to ensure scalability and performance.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in engineering, implementing, and maintaining enterprise or trading networks.
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Networking, Cybersecurity, or related IT field.
- Deep expertise in routing and multicast protocols (BGP, OSPF, PIM, IGMP) and associated best practices.
- Hands-on experience with Arista, Cisco Catalyst/Nexus, Palo Alto firewalls, and F5 LTM/GTM.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across LAN, WAN, and multicast environments.
- Experience with colocation datacenter build processes (power, cooling, cross-connects); Equinix exposure preferred.
- Practical knowledge of PTP timing architectures for trading.
- Experience with cloud networking (AWS preferred).
- Proficiency with Linux networking tools (ethtool, tcpdump) and automation (Python, Ansible).
- Familiarity with firewall policy administration, VPN, and NAT.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills; ability to work closely with traders and stakeholders.
- Expert-level certifications (CCIE, JNCIE, or equivalent) desired.
Salary Range
$150,000—$200,000 USD
