Summary

As a Senior Network Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and managing the Novanta global networks, including WAN, Cloud interconnects, and branch office networks. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensuring that network services are built using robust, secure, and scalable best practices.

Primary Responsibilities

     Design and Deployment:

  • Plan, analyze, and design enterprise-scale network solutions.
  • Deploy and configure various models of Palo Alto Networks branch and campus grade hardware firewalls.
  • Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Proficient with network firewall and Network Segmentation frameworks.
  • Experience designing and deploying NAC solutions.

Network Management:

  • Maintain and optimize existing Branch and Data Center network Infrastructure.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure efficient resource utilization.
  • Experience with designing, building and managing Cloud Interconnects and VPN solutions for Hybrid cloud workloads.
  • Experience managing ISP vendors in support of global backbone.

Operations:

  • Highly Proficient with layer 3 routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF.
  • In-Depth understanding of TCP/IP, and layer 4-7 protocols.
  • In-Depth understanding of DDI (DNS, DHCP, IP management).
  • Monitor network performance, metrics, and KPI’s.
  • Escalation point of contact for teams within IT and Operations.
  • Work with 3rd parties to design and implement business initiatives.
  • Knowledge and experience with Atlassian JIRA for agile deployment methodologies.

Certifications:

  • Professional Certifications such as CCNP or CCNE.
  • Palo Alto Network Certifications

Documentation and Collaboration:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, architects, and network engineers.
  • Familiar with JIRA and Confluence for planning and implementation
  • Familiar with Lucidcharts.

Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Cisco Skills:

  • Cisco Secure Access
  • Cisco Meraki switching & AP’s
  • Cisco ISE

Palo Alto Network Skills:

  • Prisma Access
  • Panorama management
  • Highly Proficient with layer 3 routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Ansible, Python, and PERL).
  • Strong understanding of networking & security concepts, as well compliance.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Travel Requirements   

  • Occasional – as needed  
     

Physical Requirements

  • Mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer.
  • Ability to use vison to read computer screen and read printed materials
