What You’ll Do
We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join our Backbone & Edge team. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of our backbone network. You’ll be troubleshooting, deploying, automating and monitoring every part of the backbone, while also ensuring working closely with our other networking groups to ensure seamless operations of the whole networking stack. You will play a key role in supporting the growth of our backbone network, working with cutting-edge technologies to deliver high-capacity and resilient connectivity.
Responsibilities Include:
- Operate, monitor, and support the backbone and edge network on a day-to-day basis, ensuring stability performance and uptime.
- Troubleshoot routing, optical, and transport issues across multi-vendor environments, driving resolution of incidents quickly and effectively.
- Perform configuration changes, maintenance, and upgrades on backbone and edge routers, switches, and optical platforms.
- Automate common operational workflows (e.g., config deployment, monitoring, fault remediation) to increase efficiency and reduce manual work.
- Proactively monitor network health, capacity, and performance, escalating and addressing issues before they impact customers.
- Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, standards, and post-mortems to improve operational consistency and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate closely with datacenter, edge, and peering teams to ensure smooth handoffs and end-to-end network reliability.
- Participate in on-call rotation, providing escalation support for critical backbone incidents.

Who You Are
- Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in network engineering / operations for large-scale telecommunications or cloud/content networks.
- Demonstrated experience operating large scale backbone networks running protocols such as SR-MPLS, ISIS, BGP
- Ability to troubleshoot complex routing issues quickly and efficiently
- Solid understanding of network architecture principles, including redundancy, diversity, and resilience.
- Experience with Nokia SROS, Juniper Junos and other common NOS
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex technical information and make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- The ability to create tooling with Python or Ansible to help with day to day operations
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with specific vendor equipment (e.g., Nokia, Juniper, Ciena, nvidia).
- Knowledge of IP routing and switching principles.
- Knowledge of optical networking
- Familiar with Python, Ansible, NetBox and other common tools used for network automation
The base salary range for this role is $139,000 to $204,000. The starting salary will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. We strive for both market alignment and internal equity when determining compensation. In addition to base salary, our total rewards package includes a discretionary bonus, equity awards, and a comprehensive benefits program (all based on eligibility).

Our Workplace
While we prioritize a hybrid work environment, remote work may be considered for candidates located more than 30 miles from an office, based on role requirements for specialized skill sets. New hires will be invited to attend onboarding at one of our hubs within their first month. Teams also gather quarterly to support collaboration
