Leonardo.Ai is helping people bring their creative ideas to life with the power of generative AI. We’re looking for a Motion Designer who can take abstract ideas and make them move in ways that are visually exciting, emotionally resonant, and technically tight.

You’ll be joining a fast-paced creative team where experimentation, storytelling, and polish all matter. This role sits in-house creative studio pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with generative video and image tools.

Role Description

This is a full-time remote role for a Motion Graphic Designer. A dream job for a Motion artist, where ideas can be wild with visually driven ideas and motion. The Motion Graphic Designer will be responsible for creating and producing high-quality motion graphics/animation and video content. Daily tasks include working on motion design projects, video production, and graphic design. Collaboration with other team members to develop eye-catching graphics and motion elements is essential.

Responsibilities / What you’ll do

  • Design and animate motion graphics for marketing campaigns, product launches, social, and tutorials

  • Work in After Effects to create layered, dynamic animations with a strong sense of timing and rhythm

  • Collaborate with writers, designers, and product teams to bring stories and product benefits to life

  • Help build out a motion system that feels consistent but not cookie-cutter

  • Explore early-stage ideas in Cinema4D (or similar 3D tool) to add dimensionality to our visual language

  • Jump in early on concepts, not just polish final renders

Requirements / What we’re looking for

  • 5+ years of experience designing and animating for commercial clients

  • A portfolio that shows a range of motion and animation styles—from UI transitions to abstract storytelling

  • Examples of experimental work that push the boundaries of motion design

  • Strong conceptual thinking and the ability to take a rough idea and shape it visually and narratively

  • Experience in both video production and graphic design

  • Skilled at creating engaging visuals and motion graphics

  • Comfortable using generative tools like Leonardo.Ai, Midjourney, Runway, or Sora—or eager to learn

  • Able to work independently and thrive in a remote team

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Proficiency in Adobe After Effects, Premiere, and related design tools

  • Degree in Graphic Design, Animation, Multimedia Arts, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Nice to have

  • Understanding of brand systems and how motion fits into them

  • Experience working with sound design or editing software (Premiere, FinalCut Pro, Ableton, Logic etc.)

  • A good feel for what performs well in social media or product walkthroughs

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
