Westpac is transforming its mobile experience for customers. This role is responsible for end‑to‑end delivery of production mobile solutions - from shaping technical approach and implementation through to testing, release and operational support - while championing code quality, security and sustainable reduction of technical debt.
Design, develop, test, and maintain applications and integration solutions.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly, ensuring system stability and participating in after-hours support when required.
Ensure best practice in design, coding standards, performance and security.
Collaborate with project teams from concept through delivery to ensure solutions meet business and technical requirements.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers and peers.
Create and maintain documentation throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to support transparency and knowledge sharing.
Implement changes aligned with design specifications and evolving business needs.
Analyse recurring issues and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance and reliability.
Maintain and refine support procedures to ensure resilience and minimize downtime.
Contribute to release and deployment processes, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with governance standards.
Implement automated testing and ensure high-quality code through code reviews and continuous integration practices.

At least 5+ years of professional engineering experience in iOS or Android mobile app development.
Experience in DevOps such as CI/CD pipelines, containerisation and deployment automation.
Proficient in unit testing, code reviews, and debugging.
Ability to break down complex problems and deliver practical solutions.
Strong understanding of software architecture and design principles.
Integrates AI effectively into engineering workflows to improve quality and efficiency, demonstrates strong judgement on appropriate use, and coaches others on responsible AI practices.
