Mō te tūranga | About the Role
Westpac is transforming its mobile experience for customers. This role is responsible for end‑to‑end delivery of production mobile solutions - from shaping technical approach and implementation through to testing, release and operational support - while championing code quality, security and sustainable reduction of technical debt.
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain applications and integration solutions.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly, ensuring system stability and participating in after-hours support when required.

  • Ensure best practice in design, coding standards, performance and security.

  • Collaborate with project teams from concept through delivery to ensure solutions meet business and technical requirements.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers and peers.

  • Create and maintain documentation throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to support transparency and knowledge sharing.

  • Implement changes aligned with design specifications and evolving business needs.

  • Analyse recurring issues and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance and reliability.

  • Maintain and refine support procedures to ensure resilience and minimize downtime.

  • Contribute to release and deployment processes, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with governance standards.

  • Implement automated testing and ensure high-quality code through code reviews and continuous integration practices.

Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?

  • At least 5+ years of professional engineering experience in iOS or Android mobile app development.

  • Experience in DevOps such as CI/CD pipelines, containerisation and deployment automation.

  • Proficient in unit testing, code reviews, and debugging.

  • Ability to break down complex problems and deliver practical solutions.

  • Strong understanding of software architecture and design principles.

  • Integrates AI effectively into engineering workflows to improve quality and efficiency, demonstrates strong judgement on appropriate use, and coaches others on responsible AI practices.
