OUR OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a Senior Mobile Engineer to build modern, scalable, and user-centric cross-platform mobile applications for iOS and Android.

This role is hands-on and technically deep, with ownership of significant parts of the mobile application from design through to release. The ideal candidate is passionate about clean architecture, design systems, and delivering seamless mobile experiences in complex, data-driven environments — and takes pride in raising the standard of the codebase and the engineers around them.

YOU WILL

»       Design, develop, and deliver features for cross-platform mobile applications, owning them end to end.

»       Contribute to mobile architecture, state management patterns and coding standards, and apply them consistently.

»       Build and evolve a shared component library and consistent design language across both platforms.

»       Implement runtime theming and configuration, so branding and enabled features are configured rather than hard-coded.

»       Ensure features are accessible and behave correctly across a range of devices and screen sizes.

»       Write platform-specific native code where the framework's plugin ecosystem falls short.

»       Apply mobile security best practices — secure storage, biometric authentication, and safe token handling.

»       Integrate with backend REST APIs and OAuth2 / OpenID Connect authentication flows, handling offline and error states properly.

»       Optimize application performance, startup time, rendering, and network efficiency.

»       Write and maintain automated tests (unit, widget/component, and integration).

»       Review your colleagues' code, mentor less experienced engineers, and raise the quality bar of the team.

»       Write clear technical documentation and design notes on Confluence.

»       Participate in daily, weekly and monthly team ceremonies and planning.

Requirements

»       TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE YOU NEED

»       Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

»       5+ years of hands-on mobile development experience.

»       Strong proficiency in Flutter and Dart, or in React Native and TypeScript, with a willingness to work in either.

»       Proven experience shipping production cross-platform applications to the App Store and Google Play.

»       Working knowledge of the underlying native platforms — enough to write platform channels or native modules, debug platform-specific issues, and work with Xcode and Gradle build configuration.

»       Strong understanding of mobile architecture patterns and state management (Bloc, Riverpod, Provider, Redux, or equivalents).

»       Solid grasp of mobile security fundamentals and secure handling of sensitive data on device.

»       Experience with RESTful API integration, offline handling, and background synchronization.

»       Experience with automated mobile testing.

»       Comfortable with Git, code review workflows and Agile delivery.

»       Good verbal and written English communication skills.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
