Location: Los Angeles, CA

Type: Full-Time | Individual Contributor

Who we are

In the past, to be a successful restaurateur, you simply had to have a passion for food and a passion for people - but to succeed as a digital restaurateur you also need to have a passion for technology. We believe in the joy of serving others, and that's why we created Otter – to help restaurateurs succeed in online food delivery. Restaurants around the world, both large and small, including Chick-fil-A, Ben & Jerry’s, KFC, and Eataly trust our software to power their delivery business. We increase sales, reduce order issues, and decrease delivery headaches.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Marketplace Dynamics Associate who thrives at the intersection of data, process, and performance. In this role, you’ll combine your business insight with technical skills to build dashboards, develop automation pipelines, and deliver insights that drive operational excellence. You’ll partner with product, operations, and data teams to improve workflows, uncover performance trends, and scale solutions from the ground up.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and implement analytics frameworks to measure team performance, funnel health, and strategic initiatives.
  • Build dashboards and visualizations using SQL, Looker, Tableau, or other BI tools.
  • Perform deep-dive analysis of country/regional metrics to provide actionable insights.
  • Identify and implement new processes and automation opportunities that improve business operations and efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain automation pipelines using Python, with data extracted from APIs, public datasets, and internal systems.
  • Build and manage scalable infrastructure for data extraction, transformation, and reporting.
  • Take ownership of operational data flows and performance optimization of dashboards and reports.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Data, and Operations teams to ensure solutions are aligned with business needs.
  • Support enablement efforts through documentation, training, and internal process development.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in business operations, analytics, or automation.
  • Domain expertise in logistics tech, hospitality, QSR, e-commerce, or real estate is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; STEM or analytical background strongly valued.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to independently drive insights from complex data.
  • Experience building data tools and dashboards to support business processes at scale.

Technical & Analytical Skills

  • Proficient in SQL and data modeling best practices.
  • Experience with Python for building automation and data pipelines.
  • Familiar with BI tools such as Tableau, Looker, or similar platforms.
  • Exposure to ETL/orchestration tools such as DBT, Airflow, or GCP BigQuery.
  • Familiarity with data applications using frameworks like Django or Streamlit is a plus.
  • Ability to extract data from various sources (web scraping, APIs, internal systems).

You’ll Excel If You Are

  • A self-starter with a bias toward action and continuous improvement.
  • Effective at working with cross-functional teams to influence change.
  • Able to communicate complex insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Motivated by impact and driven to improve systems at scale.

Why join us

  • Early-stage company: Join one of the fastest-growing SaaS companies revolutionizing the food industry
  • Growing market: You’ll be focused on an $80 billion market that’s projected to reach at least $500 billion by 2030 in the US alone.
  • Changing the restaurant industry: You’ll be part of a team that helps restaurants succeed in online food delivery.
  • Collaborative environment: You will receive support and guidance from experienced colleagues and managers, helping you to learn, grow and achieve your goals, and you’ll work closely with other teams to ensure our customer’s success.

What else you need to know

This role is based in our Los Angeles office location. We believe that people do their best work when they are together. As a company, we’re in the marketplace of ideas and innovation. When you’re constantly innovating, changing how an industry works, inventing new products and processes - and we are doing all these things - we believe we’re better as a team in-person. That’s why all of our teams (except for our field-based roles) are now working from one of our office locations 5 days a week. Looking forward to sharing more about a Career of Substance at Otter.

If you’re passionate about scaling operational efficiency through data and automation, we’d love to hear from you.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
