About Us

Rho is the modern banking platform built for startups. Open accounts in minutes, issue cards, manage expenses, pay bills, and close the books – all in one connected platform backed by real human support.

About the Role

We're hiring a Senior Marketing Manager to own Rho's presence in Los Angeles: community, partnerships, brand, demand, and customer growth. You'll own a pipeline number, a real budget, and a tight partnership with our local sales rep. You'll be on the ground - meeting with investors, visiting customer offices, showing up where it matters.

LA's founder ecosystem is one of the most diverse in the country. Defense and aerospace alongside consumer brands, media and entertainment, biotech, and a fast-growing tech layer underneath all of it. The founders building here span industries, backgrounds, and funding sources in ways that don't look like any other market. That's what makes it interesting - and what makes generic approaches fail.

We have early traction. Now time to help us grow it.

What You'll Do
  • Own the pipeline number. Sourced pipeline, startup customers, attribution in Salesforce. You set the targets and drive them through every motion you run.

  • Grow our LA customer count. Identify and close expansion opportunities within our existing base, run in-person touches with high-value accounts, and host customer-only gatherings that deepen relationships and surface new ones.

  • Partner with our LA sales rep. You generate demand and build relationships; together you close. Tight collaboration on targeting, follow-up, and account coverage.

  • Get out in the market. Meet with VCs, family offices, and accelerators. Visit customer offices. Show up at the right events. This is not a desk job.

  • Build founder community across sectors. Host the events founders actually want to attend - dinners and roundtables that bring together builders from defense, consumer, media, and tech. Curate every guest list. Become a connector across LA's distinct founder communities.

  • Own vertical relationships. Build direct relationships with the accelerators, incubators, studio programs, and industry networks that feed LA's founder pipeline - from Techstars and LA Cleantech Incubator to entertainment and defense ecosystem programs.

  • Own how Rho shows up in market. Sponsorships, local press, activations, founder content. Partner with our brand and creative team to execute.

  • Run local growth experiments. Geo-targeted paid, branded search, ABM into top LA accounts, lifecycle nurture tailored to LA founders.

  • Define your own approach. No established playbook. You decide what works, run it, and document what you learn.

What We're Looking For
  • 6+ years of experience across marketing, community, partnerships, brand, or growth at a venture-backed company. B2B SaaS, fintech, defense tech, consumer brands, or media are all strong fits.

  • High agency. You don't wait to be told what to do. You form a point of view, act on it, and adjust. The VP of Marketing can be a thought partner, but can't be your operating system.

  • A track record of growing something - a business, a product line, a market, a community. You can point to before and after and explain what you did to move it.

  • Genuinely comfortable being out in the market. Meeting with investors, visiting customer offices, building relationships face to face. You'd rather be in a founder's office than on a Zoom.

  • Sociable and naturally good with people. Event marketing is a core part of how Rho builds in market, and you're the kind of person founders actually want to spend time with.

  • Comfortable working across industries. LA's founder base is not monolithic. You can move between a defense tech founder, a CPG operator, and a media entrepreneur and find the right footing in each conversation.

  • Comfortable with data and finance. You can read a pipeline dashboard, run a budget, interpret a growth experiment, and talk credibly with finance-minded founders. You don't need a data team to tell you how things are going.

  • A real network in the LA founder, operator, VC, or industry community - or a clear and credible plan to build it fast.

  • Comfort with pipeline accountability. You've owned a number. You know what sourced pipeline means and how to drive it.

  • Proven ability to host events founders actually want to attend and to build personal relationships that compound over time.

    • Strong CRM hygiene. You log relationships and touchpoints in Salesforce without being asked.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication. You can run a room of 30 founders and brief a marketing team on what you're seeing in market.

  • Entrepreneurial and scrappy. You can spin up a dinner, follow up with every guest, write the recap, ship the local growth experiment, and update the dashboard in the same week.

  • Bonus: experience as a founder, operator, or accelerator alum. Prior experience in or around defense tech, consumer brands, or the entertainment and media industry is a plus.

What You'll Get
  • A direct line to the VP of Marketing and working relationships across sales, partnerships, brand, and growth leadership.

  • A real budget to run your market the way you think it should be run.

  • Meaningful equity and competitive compensation, including comprehensive benefits.

  • The chance to build something past the 0 to 1 stage in a city that matters.

Our people are our most valuable asset. The total compensation for this role is $150,000 - $208,000. Base salary may vary depending on relevant experience, skills, and business needs. In addition to base pay, Rho offers equity, healthcare benefits, and paid time off.

At Rho, we believe deeply in diversity and we're committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
