The Senior Manager, Thought Leader Programming (TLP) is responsible for driving peer-to-peer education, generating actionable insights from thought leaders, and translating those insights into educational and commercial strategy. These three functions distinguish this role from Brand Marketing, Sales, Medical Affairs, and the Thought Leader Liaison team, and define where the position creates unique value for the organization.

The position requires a proactive, solutions-oriented approach and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment. Responsibilities outlined below are not exhaustive; the individual is expected to identify opportunities to improve strategy, execution, and organizational effectiveness.

Responsibilities:

Thought Leader Engagement & Strategy

  • Lead the development and execution of thought leader engagement strategies aligned with brand and disease education objectives
  • Develop and manage KOL relationships required to support advisory boards, educational content development, speaker programs, and strategic initiatives
  • Partner with Thought Leader Liaisons (TLLs), Speaker Bureau, and conference teams to ensure consistent, high-quality execution across all engagement channels

Advisory Boards, Steering Committees & Insight Generation

  • Collaborate with the Sr. Director, TLP to define strategic objectives and plan advisory boards and steering committees aligned with business priorities
  • Define meeting objectives and discussion frameworks that generate actionable insights aligned with business priorities
  • Oversee end-to-end execution, including cross-functional coordination, RFA development and approvals, advisor selection, faculty management, and agency oversight
  • Lead development of meeting materials and onsite assets (digital and print)
  • Lead collection, synthesis, and communication of insights generated through advisory boards, steering committees, and thought leader engagements
  • Translate insights into actionable recommendations that inform brand strategy, educational initiatives, and field execution
  • Partner cross-functionally to identify insight needs and ensure findings are effectively disseminated across the organization

Content Development & Educational Programming

  • Develop, review, and manage educational and promotional materials (e.g., slide decks, training tools, product theater content) to support peer-to-peer engagement
  • Lead national and regional product theater content development, including faculty collaboration, slide reviews, and execution support
  • Ensure educational programming and content are aligned with identified learning gaps, strategic priorities, and evolving clinical evidence
  • Drive educational initiatives and thought leader engagement strategies that strengthen disease-state understanding, inform business strategy, and support organizational objectives

External Partnerships & Society Engagement

  • Identify and manage relationships with key professional societies and third-party organizations
  • Drive collaborations that enhance disease awareness and expand educational reach through educational collaborations, congress activities, faculty development opportunities, and society-sponsored initiatives
  • Establish long-term partnerships that position the organization as a trusted contributor to the clinical community
  • Develop all related content and assets to support each initiative

Agency & Operational Management

  • Oversee external agency partners supporting advisory boards, educational programming, content development, and congress initiatives to ensure high-quality deliverables, strong performance, and effective budget management
  • Manage timelines and workflows across multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Maintain operational excellence across all TLP activities

Compliance & Governance

  • Partner with the Commercial Review Team (CRT) to manage content approvals and ensure compliance with all regulatory, legal, and company policies
  • Ensure all activities adhere to applicable standards governing promotional and educational engagements

Additional Expectations

  • Travel as needed to support conferences, advisory boards, and thought leader engagements
  • Demonstrate adaptability, ownership, and a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Proactively identify opportunities to enhance TLP capabilities and impact

Preferred Skills, Qualifications & Technical Proficiencies

  • Proven expertise in thought leader engagement strategy, including the development and management of KOL relationships in support of advisory boards and educational programs
  • Strong insight generation and synthesis skills, with the ability to translate complex findings into actionable strategic recommendations
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive alignment across commercial, medical, and operational teams
  • Experience developing and managing educational content aligned with clinical evidence and strategic priorities
  • Scientific and clinical aptitude, with the ability to engage credibly with thought leaders and translate clinical knowledge into educational strategy
  • Track record of leading complex, multi-workstream projects with competing timelines and cross-functional dependencies
  • Vendor and agency management experience a plus

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent; master's degree preferred
  • 7+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience
  • 4-5 years of experience in thought leader programming, medical education, or brand management; endocrinology and/or orphan drug experience a plus

The pay range that the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position is $154,980 – $205,110; the pay ultimately offered may vary based on legitimate considerations, including geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
