Senior Manager, Tax & Treasury

Billtrust is seeking a Senior Manager, Tax & Treasury, to join our growing company! The Senior Manager, Tax & Treasury delivers the business partnership necessary to drive our business strategy forward, while adequately planning for new tax compliance requirements and working capital needs. This leader will own cross-border international tax planning, direct and indirect tax compliance, and liquidity management, through the support of an internal team and external firms as needed.

Your first initiatives will include leadership roles in legal entity rationalization efforts, global system integrations and the centralization of cash forecasting. As our first in-house Tax & Treasury leader, you will communicate to cross-functional peers the importance of the tax function in such initiatives, highlighting risks or possible tax advantages. This is a rare opportunity to establish a high-performing function, define process and technology, and directly shape the future of how Billtrust manages its global tax and treasury operations.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead cross-border intercompany tax compliance and treasury operations, including transfer price agreements, intercompany agreements, intercompany transactions, global cash forecasting and global cash management
  • Oversee US Domestic (Federal and State) and International Income Tax compliance
  • Supervise the completion of indirect tax filings including but not limited to US Sales Tax returns and VAT tax returns
  • Oversee and mentor a team responsible for Tax filings, support of international Statutory Filings, Liquidity Management, and Treasury. Mentor and manage performance to ensure high standards of compliance and working capital management
  • Manage external tax firms and banking relationships. Maintain the annual budget with respect to Tax and Treasury and lead operational reviews to maintain a high standard of service
  • Research tax regulations, customer or vendor inquiries related to tax matters, and changes to our tax compliance landscape
  • Review or assist in preparation of the Tax Provision to Tax Return reconciliation and US GAAP or Local Statutory Book to Tax reconciliations
  • Design and implement processes, systems, policies, and internal controls to strengthen Tax and Treasury governance
  • Perform a leadership role in Company-wide transformation initiatives
  • Regularly collaborate with cross-functional partners across in Legal, FP&A, Accounting, Business Systems, People (Human Resources) and Sales to adequately plan for tax compliance and working capital needs
  • Provide financial analysis that supports a timely financial close and forecast, as well as strategic decision making

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Taxation, Accounting, or related field
  • CPA or Chartered Accountant preferred
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in tax functions, ideally in a SaaS or PE-Backed environment
  • Proven knowledge of international tax laws and intercompany accounting
  • 2 years tax experience required from a Big 4 or mid-tier firm (Deloitte, KPMG, PwC, EY, BDO, RSM, Grant Thornton)
  • Project management and leadership skills, translating annual compliance goals into daily to quarterly KPI execution
  • Comfortable working in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Roll-up-your-sleeves attitude — willing to both lead strategically and execute tactically

The expected base salary range for this position is $155,000 - $170,000 annually.
Compensation may vary depending on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, competencies, and geographic location. Some roles may qualify for extra incentives like equity, commissions, or other variable performance-related bonuses. Further details will be provided by our Talent Acquisition team during the interview process.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
