SUMMARY

Q2 is seeking a Senior Manager of Software Engineering to lead our API and SDK engineering teams while driving the development of a new, AI-powered product focused on the external developer ecosystem. This role owns the technical strategy, execution, and evolution of the frameworks that enable third-party developers to extend the Q2 platform securely, scalably, and efficiently.

This leader is AI-forward actively evangelizing modern AI tools, developer copilots, and intelligent automation across the software development lifecycle. They are highly technical, hands-on when needed, and comfortable diving into code to unblock teams, set architectural direction, or accelerate delivery.

The role blends people leadership, platform thinking, and deep technical credibility. You will lead high-performing engineers while overseeing quality, observability, security, and CI/CD pipelines. You’ll partner closely with Product, Architecture, Security, and Developer Experience stakeholders to deliver an industry-changing fintech platform that empowers both Q2 customers and external developers.

RESPONSIBILITIES• Lead and mentor engineers; manage planning through release and monitoring • Implement and maintain CI/CD (e.g., GitLab/Jenkins) and automated testing • Ensure reliability and crash‑free performance with monitoring and reporting • Collaborate with Product, Design, and Backend teams on roadmaps • Drive continuous improvement and cross‑org initiatives for cost and performance EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE • ~10 years total experience (Sr Manager level); advanced degree with 6+ acceptable • 2–5 years managing and developing employees • Expertise in JavaScript, Python, SQL; AWS patterns; client‑facing experience • Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills; banking domain a plus
