  • Ensure Software Development Leads apply consistent development, CI/CD, operational support, and team-level DevOps practices within their teams.
  • Promote reusable patterns, responsible modernization, automation, and technical-debt reduction while balancing speed, quality, security, and reliability.
  • Define and monitor engineering metrics related to delivery predictability, quality, release readiness, operational health, and team effectiveness.

Embedded DevOps and Operational Readiness

  • Provide governance and oversight for embedded DevOps practices across development teams.
  • Ensure team-level DevOps execution aligns with organization-wide standards for CI/CD, deployment automation, observability, incident response, and operational support.

  • Support continuous improvement in release processes, deployment reliability, observability, and production support practices.

AI-Assisted Engineering and Continuous Improvement

  • Establish expectations for responsible use of AI-assisted coding and engineering tools.
  • Ensure AI-generated code, scripts, documentation, tests, automation, and technical recommendations are reviewed for quality, security, maintainability, and appropriateness.
  • Encourage practical use of AI-assisted tools to improve productivity, troubleshooting, documentation, testing, refactoring, and delivery efficiency.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, engineering accountability, and thoughtful innovation.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 8+ years of experience in software development, software engineering leadership, application development, DevOps, platform engineering, or related technology roles.
  • 3+ years of experience leading or managing software development teams, technical leads, engineering leads, or cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Experience managing software delivery across multiple teams, workstreams, or product delivery areas.
  • Experience leading through technical leads, team leads, or first-line engineering leaders.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent practical experience.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in healthcare, clinical content, regulated software, compliance-driven environments, or enterprise SaaS.
  • Experience leading distributed or remote software engineering teams.
  • Experience improving engineering standards, release-readiness practices, CI/CD consistency, or operational support models across multiple teams.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
