Senior Manager, Product Management (Individual Contributor) – Phare Claim
R1 is the leading provider of technology-driven solutions that transform the patient experience and financial performance of hospitals, health systems, and medical groups. We combine deep revenue cycle expertise with an advanced technology platform spanning analytics, AI, intelligent automation, and workflow orchestration.
We’re hiring a Senior Manager, Product Management to lead product strategy and execution for a new solution being built within our Phare Health/R37 AI Lab Operating System. This is a high-impact individual contributor role requiring strong product leadership, deep technical fluency (AI/agentic capabilities), and the ability to work market-facing across clinical and operational stakeholders. The product will integrate into the Phare Health claims application, with pathways to sell as part of the operating system or standalone. You’ll report directly to the VP of Product and partner closely with a peer Senior Manager given the scale and urgency of the build.
What you’ll do
- Own product strategy and direction for the solution—define vision, positioning, and roadmap aligned to market needs and launch timelines.
- Drive discovery and requirements with clinicians and operations (nurses/physicians and clinical operations leaders), translating workflow realities into product decisions.
- Lead cross-functional execution with product engineering, data engineering, and AI research/engineering partners to deliver a high-quality solution on an aggressive timeline.
- Shape AI and agentic capabilities: partner with AI researchers/engineers to define use cases, evaluate model approaches, manage tradeoffs, and ensure solutions are safe, effective, and measurable.
- Own integration strategy with EHRs (especially Epic): define integration workflows, coordinate with Epic contractors/technical partners, and ensure the product fits enterprise clinical environments.
- Be market-facing: contribute to go-to-market readiness (messaging, demos, competitive insights, customer feedback loops) and support early customer conversations.
- Define success metrics and instrumentation: establish KPIs, monitor performance, and iterate based on outcomes and stakeholder feedback.
- Operate autonomously in a fast-moving environment—able to make decisions, align stakeholders, and unblock delivery without heavy oversight.
What success looks like
- Within 30 days: independently contributing to roadmap, priorities, and execution; building strong working relationships across engineering, clinical ops, and operations stakeholders.
- Within 90 days: operating fully autonomously, owning key roadmap outcomes, and driving measurable progress toward market launch.
What we’re looking for
- Product leadership (IC): Proven experience leading product strategy and delivery for complex, cross-functional initiatives—without needing people management authority to drive outcomes.
- Healthcare workflow fluency: Experience building products used by clinicians and/or operational healthcare teams (middle revenue cycle experience is a plus).
- EHR integration experience: Familiarity with Epic strongly preferred (Cerner/other EHR experience also valuable), including integration concepts and real-world clinical workflow constraints.
- Technical depth in AI/data products: Hands-on experience building data-driven, ML/AI, or agentic products; comfortable collaborating deeply with engineers and AI researchers.
- Strong stakeholder management: Ability to align clinical, operational, engineering, and executive stakeholders; excellent written and verbal communication.
- Comfort in ambiguity: Can define the “what” and “why,” and drive clarity when inputs are incomplete or evolving.
Preferred experience (nice to have)
- Familiarity with Databricks (or similar modern data/ML platforms)
- Exposure to frontier/LLM-based workflows, evaluation methods, and AI safety considerations
- Experience launching new products to market (0→1) in healthcare or adjacent regulated domains
