About the role.
The Senior Manager, Product Development will drive coverage related projects for PURE’s casualty lines of business and is responsible for creating and maintaining the content of PURE’s policy forms and endorsements. Strong candidates will be naturally curious with in depth knowledge of personal lines insurance products. Experience developing high-net-worth insurance products is a plus. This individual will demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and will communicate effectively to help solve real business problems. This role reports to the VP, Product Development within the Product Management team and will work closely with several business units across the organization.
This role is on a hybrid basis with the expectation to be in the Chicago office 2-3x per week.
What you'll do.
- Provide overall management of national coverage strategy for personal auto, personal excess liability and watercraft lines of business.
- Development of comprehensive coverage strategies that align with product initiatives and assist with driving growth, achieving targeted underwriting profit, and delivering the best membership experience.
- Partner with rating teams on overlapping projects and initiatives.
- Lead collaboration with underwriting and claims partners to analyze and monitor effective of policy language to drive continuous improvement.
- Act as a coverage and policy forms expert and maintain a thorough knowledge of company product features and benefits as well as industry product trends. Provide coverage expertise to various internal areas, including underwriting, sales and marketing, claims, legal and finance.
- Maintain current knowledge of competitor actions, industry developments and Member needs and drive coverage innovation to meet the needs of PURE’s target market.
What we’re looking for.
- Bachelor’s degree required with 5+ years progressively more responsible work experience in personal lines insurance, preferably in a product development role. Experience developing and drafting personal insurance policy forms is a must.
- Exceptional analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills with an ability to comprehend, interpret and draft complex policy language.
- Demonstrates the highest levels of ethics, values, and integrity; s/he should be highly respected within current/previous organizations as a trusted professional.
- Must be able to lead through influence, rather than authority only. Collaborative and community-oriented; must be a team player and able to operate as a “player-coach.”
- High net worth personal lines insurance experienced preferred, but not required.
- Incredible empathy and understanding of the needs of our insured members. You should be an advocate for members and passionate about our mission.
