Athena is on a mission to improve how people work and live.

Our membership helps busy leaders unlock the power of their talent and time with premier executive coaching and dedicated daily support from an Athena Executive Partner.

We’ve supported thousands of leaders—from startup founders, to high-level executives to solopreneurs. And we’re growing rapidly with a waitlist building by the day.

We're scaling quickly, and our Growth team is at the center of that mission.

The Role

We’re hiring a Senior Paid Media Manager to take full ownership of paid growth for the B2B-oriented demand side of the business at Athena. This role is ideal for a systems thinker - someone who doesn't just manage channels, but builds the architecture around them: strategy, process, team, and tools. You'll run our paid acquisition engine across all platforms (Meta, Google, LinkedIn, emerging, etc.) and grow a team around you to scale it.

You’ll lead everything from channel mix and creative testing to performance tracking and budget allocation, with a sharp focus on driving volume and improving CAC. You’ll also collaborate closely with CRO, Lifecycle, Marketing, and Sales to ensure paid traffic converts, qualifies, and ultimately closes while also deploying. As a senior hire, you'll be instrumental in shaping how we scale demand generation in a way that's efficient, repeatable, and measurable.

What You’ll Do
  • Channel Ownership: Own and operate all paid acquisition channels (Meta, Google, LinkedIn, emerging channels, etc.) with full accountability for performance and budget.

  • Strategy & Planning: Set the roadmap for channel mix, creative strategy, and spend allocation based on performance goals and business priorities.

  • Team Building: Recruit and lead a high-performance team of media buyers, agency partners, and channel specialists as we scale.

  • Creative Collaboration: Partner with in-house and freelance designers and copywriters to develop high-performing ad creative tailored to channel and audience. Partner with Sales to align media plans with upper and lower funnel campaign objectives and ABM priorities.

  • Data & Insights: Monitor channel performance, cohort quality, and funnel metrics using tools like HubSpot, GA4, and other data tools. Work with the internal stakeholders to close the loop from spend to pipeline to revenue to retention.

  • Testing & Iteration: Run structured, ongoing experiments across platforms, audiences, copy, and landing pages to increase quality lead velocity and LTV/CAC.

  • Pipeline Forecasting: Contribute to demand forecasts and ensure pacing aligns with growth goals for lead and closed-won targets.

  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Work closely with the Marketing, RevOps, CRO, Lifecycle, Data and Sales teams to ensure tight handoffs, shared visibility, and feedback loops across the funnel.

  • Innovation: Stay abreast of the latest trends, new technologies, and channel innovations within B2B paid media to identify opportunities and drive growth

Skills You Have
  • Paid Media Expertise: Deep knowledge of performance marketing across major B2B and B2C channels, with a track record of optimizing for both scale and efficiency and experience running ABM campaigns.

  • Strategic & Systems Thinking: Designs scalable growth systems with clear feedback loops across creative, targeting, spend, and funnel. Focuses on compounding performance, not one-off wins.

  • Creative Performance Instincts: Skilled at developing hypotheses and briefs that lead to effective creative across formats and placements.

  • Data Fluency: Comfortable interpreting cohort analysis, lead scoring models, funnel reporting, and attribution tools to make decisions.

  • Experimentation/Growth Mindset: You test fast, learn quickly, and build systems to scale what works.

  • Leadership & Communication: Strong communicator who can align stakeholders, set clear priorities, and manage channel owners or external teams.

  • Technical Marketing Infrastructure: Strong understanding of tracking, pixels, UTM structures, CRM integrations, and attribution logic.

Experience
  • 7+ years in a performance marketing or growth role, ideally in a high-growth B2B or tech environment.

  • Proven track record managing multi-million dollar ad budgets across multiple channels.

  • Experience building or leading teams, either in-house or via agency/vendor partnerships.

  • Familiarity with working cross-functionally across Growth, Marketing, RevOps, Sales, Data, Tech, and Product Marketing.

Nice to Have
  • Familiarity with leveraging AI tools to build scalable campaign systems, automate tasks, etc.

  • Hands-on experience with HubSpot.

  • Familiarity with attribution modeling, MMM, or LTV-based optimization.

  • Basic understanding of SQL or BI tools to access and analyze performance data.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
