Position Summary:

The Senior Manager, People Success / People Success Partner (PSP) position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in support of field-based US Commercial  roles. The position formulates partnerships across the People Success function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. The PSP maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business unit's financial position, its midrange plans, its culture and its competition to help drive success.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts regular meetings with respective business leaders to support business priorities, challenges, and areas for growth.

  • Partners proactively with other functional teams to enhance field performance including Commercial Insights and Operations, Payroll, Compliance etc. Consults with management, providing guidance when appropriate.

  • Analyzes trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs and policies or to proactively raise areas of needed opportunity.

  • Understand field based compensation programs and uses them to identify areas of performance to watch or evaluate.

  • Actively participates in promotional discussions and decisions.

  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues.

  • May conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations.

  • Performs employee related data management in Workday.

  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal and compliance departments as needed/required.

  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).

  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.

  • Participates in the hiring of employees for the functions they support.

  • Provides policy guidance and interpretation.

  • Guides on business restructurings, workforce planning and succession planning.

  • Identifies training and coaching needs for the business.

  • Participate in field activities to build relationships and become fully informed about roles and responsibilities.

  • Provides support on delivering People Success initiatives; communicates, interprets and, where appropriate, recommends procedures for implementation.

  • Collaborates with People Success colleagues and Centers of Excellence to ensure the delivery of high-quality services that meet the needs of the business.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in related discipline.  Equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience may be considered.

  • Preferred experience in Biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.

  • Experience supporting commercial organizations (e.g., sales, marketing, market access etc.) is preferred.

  • Minimum of 6 years of work experience resolving complex employee relations issues.

  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal, California, and other state employment laws.

  • HR Certified Professional credential highly preferred.

Additional Skills/Experience:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.

  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.

  • Well organized with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage shifting responsibilities in a dynamic, cross-functional teamwork environment.

  • Excellent collaboration skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and manage complexity.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to adapt to modification and changes to project plans, demonstrating flexibility to implement new strategies and tactics to accommodate these changes.

  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for others in the organization.

  • Ability to travel 10-20% domestic and internationally. 

  • All positions have an essential job function to be able to perform face to face work with colleagues and/or onsite in San Diego. No role is expected to be 100% remote.

Compensation: Our competitive compensation package includes a combination of both cash compensation (base pay and short-term incentive) and long-term incentive compensation (company stock), designed to recognize, retain, and reward employees.

Target Base Pay Range:

$128,000.00 - $165,000.00
