Who We Are

Nuro is a self-driving technology company on a mission to make autonomy accessible to all. Founded in 2016, Nuro is building the world’s most scalable driver, combining cutting-edge AI with automotive-grade hardware. Nuro licenses its core technology, the Nuro Driver™, to support a wide range of applications, from robotaxis and commercial fleets to personally owned vehicles. With technology proven over years of self-driving deployments, Nuro gives the automakers and mobility platforms a clear path to AVs at commercial scale, empowering a safer, richer, and more connected future.

About the Team

Nuro’s People team is responsible for building the systems, programs, and experiences that attract, develop, and retain top talent. We partner across every part of the business to ensure our teams are supported, our culture is strong, and our people have what they need to do the best work of their careers. From talent management and learning to people operations, HR technology, and total rewards, we’re scaling the infrastructure that enables Nuro to grow with clarity, consistency, and speed.

About the Role

We’re looking for a highly analytical, execution-oriented Senior Manager, People Operations to scale the programs, tools, and data infrastructure that power our People team and enable Nuro to grow with clarity and speed. Reporting to the Head of People, this role is a key member of the People leadership team and plays a critical part in building and running the operational engine that supports every team at Nuro.

You’ll lead our Workday HRIS strategy (with a dedicated Workday admin), own people reporting and KPIs, manage immigration processes, and drive People-wide programs—from service delivery to systems training to dashboards. You’ll also partner closely with Total Rewards on compensation cycles, benefits administration, open enrollment, and merit planning, as well as support performance management cycles and company-wide engagement programs.

This is a pivotal role as we move from R&D into commercialization and production. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the strategy, infrastructure, insights, and tools are in place to support a growing, fast-moving company.

About the Work
  • Own and evolve Nuro’s Workday roadmap and overall people systems stack
  • Lead People Ops programs across immigration, service desk, compliance, systems support, and lifecycle operations
  • Develop and maintain people dashboards, KPIs, and reporting frameworks for key stakeholders across the business
  • Partner with Legal, Payroll, HRBPs, Talent Management, Recruiting, and L&D to support scalable processes and decision-making
  • Collaborate with Total Rewards on compensation cycles, benefits, open enrollment, and merit planning
  • Support the execution of performance review cycles, engagement surveys, training, and related company-wide programs
  • Identify opportunities to improve, automate, and scale how People Ops supports Nuro as we grow

About You

  • 7+ years in People Operations or related roles in high-growth environments
  • 3+ years in people management, ideally managing people in multiple functions
  • Deep experience with Workday HRIS and experience owning an HRIS roadmap
  • Strong program management skills with a track record of cross-functional execution
  • Comfort working with People data and building dashboards to drive insights at the Dept, Org and executive level
  • Experience with U.S. immigration processes and HR compliance, including maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations
  • A builder’s mindset, you know how to balance structure, speed, and scalability

At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected base pay range is between $152,000 and $228,000 for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.

At Nuro, we celebrate differences and are committed to a diverse workplace that fosters inclusion and psychological safety for all employees. What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
