Senior Manager, Marketing Strategy & Planning (DET)

Req ID:

Job Description:

Disney+ and Hulu's Marketing Strategy & Planning team is seeking a Senior Manager to oversee integrated planning workflows across brand, Live TV, sports, and content marketing initiatives, unifying how our teams plan campaigns and measure impact across verticals. This role isn't about campaign execution - it's about acting as Marketing's connective tissue, aligning planning and measurement standards into one shared framework so Marketing can optimize for impact.

The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver and strategic thinker with deep experience in marketing strategy, program management, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop a team that supports Brand, Live, Sports, Franchise, and Content marketing, aligning processes so campaigns consistently flow through our standard planning frameworks with strategic rigor.

  • Partner across the enterprise to advance key tools (e.g., MMM, Airtable, Claude) that support Marketing's planning and investment decisions.

  • Develop workflows with automation in mind, leaning into AI to streamline and quicken results.

  • Align campaign briefing processes to increase operational efficiency and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Strengthen analyses by rolling out cross-platform measurement and unifying KPIs across teams.

  • Collaborate regularly with campaign managers and channel owners to surface tactical performance insights, identify optimization opportunities, and inform strategic pivots.

  • Drive the narrative of Marketing's holistic impact — socializing learnings with partners through goals updates and quarterly business reviews.

  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to Marketing leadership, ensuring campaigns are aligned with our business goals and that insights translate into sharper prioritization decisions across the org.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in marketing strategy, media strategy, operations, consulting, or a related field.

  • Proven success leading cross-functional projects and strategic planning processes.

  • Strong analytical and storytelling skills; ability to translate data into clear, actionable insights.

  • Expertise in database tools like Airtable.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

  • Comfortable managing through ambiguity and influencing without authority.

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience in streaming or entertainment, particularly within a complex, matrixed organization.

  • Proven background in building and scaling marketing operations or strategy functions.

  • Experience with executive reporting and crafting strategic narratives for leadership.

  • Strong understanding of cross-functional workflows between creative, media, strategy, and data science teams.

  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and shifting priorities to support evolving business needs and objectives.

The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $153,200 to $205,400 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
