What is the Senior Manager, IT role?

As the leader of all IT operations at CopilotIQ+Biofourmis, you will ensure that our remote team has seamless access to the technology they need to deliver exceptional healthcare solutions. Operating in a HIPAA-regulated environment, you'll balance enabling productivity while maintaining robust security and compliance standards.

You'll be the systems-oriented problem solver who ensures our technology infrastructure stays in the background, enabling our teams to focus on transforming healthcare. Success means maintaining operational excellence through data-driven oversight, optimizing costs through strategic vendor management, and serving as a trusted partner to leadership on technology decisions.

This is a hands-on management role reporting to the Vice President of Operations, with direct oversight of a small support team. You'll own IT operations and implementation while collaborating with internal teams and external partners on security policy development.

What you'll be doing:
  • Lead IT operations as a working manager for our global team and workforce (US, India), personally handling tickets alongside your team while managing JIRA24/7 help desk coverage and system reliability with a small, service-oriented support team.
  • Build and maintain robust systems that create process visibility and support both internal reporting and regulatory compliance, leading cross-organizational collaboration on requirements and system architecture
  • Optimize costs and vendor relationships, assessing software options for maximum value while managing budgets and renewal cycles with stakeholders across the organization
  • Implement and manage security policies developed collaboratively with internal teams and external partners, including hands-on onboarding/offboarding processes and compliance documentation
  • Drive process improvements through data analysis, tracking and reporting KPIs, creating self-service tools and automation to reduce support tickets while building reliable systems that keep technology in the background
  • Collaborate cross-functionally as the primary IT liaison to leadership and external partners, ensuring all teams have the technology support needed for their roles
What you'll bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of IT operations, ideally in technology or startup environments with strong systems orientation and cost-optimization mindset
  • 2+ years of people management experience leading IT or technical teams. Experience managing remote and/or international teams is strongly preferred.
  • Technical proficiency in endpoint management (Jamf), identity/access management (Okta), Google Workspace, Jira and modern SaaS ecosystems
  • Proven ability to architect cost-effective, scalable solutions within resource constraints.
  • Management and collaboration skills with track record of leading remote teams, fostering service-oriented culture, and working effectively across organizations
  • Process and compliance experience including documentation, vendor management, and ability to quickly adapt to regulatory requirements in fast-growing companies
  • Data-driven problem solving with ability to analyze metrics, identify improvement opportunities, and build reliable systems that reduce manual intervention

Bonus Points for:

  • Experience supporting or maintaining SOC 2, HIPAA, ISO 27001, or other compliance and security frameworks.
  • Experience managing enterprise IT operations, endpoint/device management, and user support across a distributed or remote workforce.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
