Senior Manager of Inside Sales Commercial Training & Enablement

We are looking for a Senior Manager of Inside Sales Commercial Training & Enablement to join the Marketing team at athenahealth. In this role, the Senior Manager of Inside Sales Commercial Training & Enablement will act as the the strategic owner of the Inside Sales enablement function. This individual will be responsible for defining, building, and continuously evolving the enablement strategy that drives productivity, accelerates ramp time, and increases revenue performance across the Inside Sales organization.

This role goes beyond program delivery — it establishes the vision, framework, and operating model for Inside Sales enablement. In close partnership with Inside Sales Leadership, Marketing, and Revenue Operations, the Senior Manager of Inside Sales Commercial Training & Enablement will identify performance gaps, align enablement initiatives to revenue objectives, and build scalable learning solutions grounded in modern sales methodologies and best practices.

The ideal candidate brings direct experience supporting or leading Inside Sales teams in high-growth environments, a deep understanding of sales methodology philosophies (e.g., MEDDICC, Challenger, SPIN, Sandler, Command of the Message, etc.), and experience leveraging AI-powered enablement technologies to improve readiness, coaching, and performance outcomes.

   

Job Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the overarching Inside Sales enablement strategy aligned to revenue goals, growth targets, and hiring forecasts.

  • Establish a structured enablement roadmap that supports onboarding, skill development, methodology adoption, and career progression.

  • Partner with Sales Leadership to align enablement priorities to business performance metrics (pipeline generation, conversion rates, win rates, quota attainment).

  • Build a repeatable enablement operating model that scales with organizational growth.

  • Design, own, and continuously optimize a structured Inside Sales onboarding experience that accelerates time to productivity.

  • Operationalize modern sales methodologies within training, coaching, and reinforcement programming.

  • Own and evolve role-based development pathways for Inside Sales Representatives.

  • Leverage enablement technologies (e.g., conversation intelligence, AI coaching tools, LMS platforms, sales engagement platforms) to enhance training effectiveness and reinforcement.

  • Develop blended learning strategies across instructor-led, virtual, and digital modalities.

  • Serve as the primary strategic enablement partner to Inside Sales Leadership.

  • Conduct ongoing needs analyses to identify performance gaps and proactively recommend enablement interventions.

Typical Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • 6+ years of experience in Inside Sales, Sales Leadership, or Sales Enablement in a performance-driven organization.

  • Demonstrated experience owning or significantly shaping a sales enablement strategy.

  • Proven experience building scalable onboarding and skill development programs for Inside Sales teams.

  • Experience implementing or reinforcing formal sales methodologies (e.g., MEDDICC, Challenger, SPIN, Sandler, etc.).

  • Experience leveraging AI-enabled sales and enablement platforms strongly preferred.

  • Experience in SaaS or complex B2B sales environments preferred.


Expected Compensation

$109,000 - $185,000

The base salary range shown reflects the full range for this role from minimum to maximum. At athenahealth, base pay depends on multiple factors, including job-related experience, relevant knowledge and skills, how your qualifications compare to others in similar roles, and geographical market rates.  Base pay is only one part of our competitive Total Rewards package - depending on role eligibility, we offer both short and long-term incentives by way of an annual discretionary bonus plan, variable compensation plan, and equity plans.
