About the Role
We are looking for a strategic operator to join the ECL team for end-to-end supply chain for our critical infrastructure. In this role, you will own the commercial relationships with our most strategic manufacturing partners—from major HVAC and power vendors to chip manufacturers. You will move beyond simple purchasing to drive Category Management, ensuring supply resilience, cost optimization, and speed-to-market for our growing global footprint.

Key Responsibilities

  • Key Responsibilities
  • 1. Strategic Sourcing & Category Management:
  • Develop and execute global sourcing strategies for high-value CapEx categories (e.g., Chillers, CDUs, Generators, Switchgear, and IT Hardware).
  • Identify, qualify, and onboard new suppliers to diversify the supply base and mitigate single-source risks.
  • Lead Request for Proposals (RFPs) and complex contract negotiations, focusing on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), warranty terms, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • 2. Supply Planning & Inventory Control:
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Capacity Planning teams to translate technical roadmaps into accurate material forecasts.
  • Manage "Open-to-Buy" budgets and optimize inventory levels to balance working capital against the risk of stockouts during critical build phases.
  • Shutterstock
  • 3. Vendor Performance & Relationship Management:
  • conduct Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with key suppliers to drive continuous improvement in quality, lead time, and innovation.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for supply disruptions, utilizing root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • 4. Logistics & Compliance:
  • Oversee complex global logistics, ensuring the safe and compliant transport of heavy infrastructure equipment across international borders (managing Incoterms, customs, and duties).
  • Ensure all vendors adhere to [Company Name]’s sustainability and ethical sourcing standards.

Qualifications

  • Basic Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably in a technical environment (Data Centers, Construction, Manufacturing, or Hardware).
  • Negotiation Skills: Proven track record of negotiating multi-million dollar contracts with favorable terms.
  • Analytical Skills: proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups) and experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI) to drive decision-making.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or MBA.
  • Certifications: CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) or CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management).
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP (Ariba/S4HANA), Oracle, or Coupa.
  • Technical familiarity with mechanical or electrical infrastructure (ability to read basic specs and understand BOMs).

Cultural Fit

  • Resilient: You stay calm under pressure when global supply chains are disrupted.
  • Collaborative: You can bridge the gap between "Engineering wants the best tech" and "Finance wants the best price."
  • Ethical: You hold yourself and your vendors to the highest standards of integrity.

We offer a competitive compensation package, including equity, comprehensive benefits, and the opportunity to shape the future of global data center infrastructure. If you are a visionary leader with a passion for driving innovation in supply chain management and a track record of success in fast-paced, technology-driven environments, we encourage you to apply.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
