Inkitt is building the Disney of the 21st Century, standing at the forefront of technology and entertainment. Leveraging AI and predictive algorithms, Inkitt discovers unknown stories and turns them into blockbuster hits, producing a new $1M ebook every 4 weeks and selling directly to consumers through its Galatea app. Inkitt has become the 11th most bestseller-generating publisher in the world, boasting a 40x higher hit-rate than traditional publishers. Recently raising a Series C and backed by some of the top VC’s such as: Khosla, Kleiner Perkins, and NEA Ventures, our recent expansion into CandyJarTV is only the beginning of our journey to becoming the next-gen entertainment powerhouse.

What You'll Do:

  • Collaborate with teams across product, engineering, marketing, and customer support to integrate financial insights into business and operational decision-making.
  • Support fundraising, investor communications, board materials, and capital planning.
  • Mentor and lead finance team members, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.

What You'll Bring:

  • 5–8+ years of total experience, ideally with a mix of early-career training in investment banking, management consulting, or corporate finance, combined with 2–4+ years in a strategic finance or business operations leadership role at a high-growth startup.
  • Proven experience working in investment banking or management consulting environments, bringing strong analytical rigor, strategic problem-solving, and business transformation expertise.
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial modeling, data analysis, and strategic thinking with the ability to influence senior leaders and shape business strategy.
  • Strong business acumen with deep understanding of consumer tech metrics (CAC, LTV, payback, RoAS) and unit economics.
  • Proven ability to manage ambiguity, drive alignment, and execute projects quickly in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
  • Exceptional communication skills — both written and verbal — capable of presenting complex data clearly to executive and non-financial audiences.
  • Experience implementing scalable systems, processes, and AI-driven tools that enhance finance function efficiency and deliver actionable insights.
  • A builders’ mindset with passion for process improvement, operational discipline, and driving change in hypergrowth companies.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
