We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager, FP&A – Research & Technical Operations to join our team in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. This position will serve as a strategic finance business partner to the Research and Technical Operations organizations, supporting a growing portfolio of programs and operational priorities. In this role, you will play a critical part in driving planning and forecasting processes, delivering decision support for functional leadership, and assisting the Sr. Director of FP&A in overall planning strategy and execution. This position will also involve close interaction with the Accounting team during month-end close processes.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with Research and Technical Operations teams to provide effective planning, forecasting, and analysis; provide senior leadership and business partners with appropriate tools and insights to set goals and measure performance.
  • Attend cross-functional program and functional leadership meetings; proactively identify risks, opportunities, and tradeoffs and translate them into clear financial implications.
  • Partner with Technical Operations and Accounting to support COGS and gross margin planning/forecasting and related performance analysis.
  • Support Technical Operations’ operating models by validating key assumptions, running scenarios, and communicating financial implications to functional leaders.
  • Own financial reporting for supported functions, including monthly comparison of actual vs. budget/forecast results and relevant variance analysis, in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Collaborate with the Accounting team on monthly close to ensure accruals and expenses are recorded accurately and promptly.
  • Assist Sr. Director, FP&A in the management of the LRP and budget processes, support compliance of internal controls, preparation of finance materials for the Board, and other high priority projects.
  • Collaborate, influence, and build credibility with business partners across the organization, especially within Research and Technical Operations.
  • Educate program and functional leaders about the budgeting/forecasting process and the importance of their role in a successful process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Finance, Accounting or relevant degree.
  • 7+ years of progressive financial reporting, planning and analysis experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
  • Prior experience supporting Research/R&D and/or Technical Operations organizations is highly preferred.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing/CMC/supply chain finance and partnering through commercialization or launch-readiness activities is a plus.
  • System savvy, ideally with experience implementing or overseeing financial planning and reporting tools. Experience with Adaptive Insights is a plus.
  • Strong and advanced Excel modeling and analytical skills as well as solid accounting knowledge.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

This position is located in South San Francisco, CA and employees are expected to be onsite Tuesday-Thursday. 

The salary range for this position is $165,000 USD to $200,000 USD annually. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the Company’s compensation practices.
