This position is responsible for the management of global External Manufacturers in support of > $25MM in revenue for Electrophysiology (EP). This spend is medium to high complexity in nature and requires collaboration with internal partners. The Senior Manager will implement critical initiatives for products produced at External Manufacturers. They will plan and direct the organization’s activities and deliver against targets for service, quality/compliance, and financial performance. They will deploy end-to end supply strategies, handle relationships with External Manufacturers and maintain key partnerships within the business. They may lead a small team.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver on quality, service, reliability, financial, and growth commitments from External Manufacturers (EM’s).

  • Operational Management of EMs: Implement supplier performance management. Develop and lead regular performance reviews (Integrated Business Planning (IBP), Cost Improvement (CIP) execution, Quality reviews, etc.), coordinate product tech transfers and decommissioning of sites, engage EMs in lean process improvements and lead operations via virtual plant management.
  • EM Strategy Development: Partner in the development and drive the External Manufacturing vision for, with and through the organization.
  • Business Engagement: Serve as a point of escalation for issues. Brings resolution to issues.
  • Assess existing global EM footprints and product supply opportunity. Partner with EMs to drive network efficiencies in alignment with global EM vision.
  • Perform analysis of investments required to support recurring cost reductions and business growth for EM sites.
  • Conduct CIP generation sessions. Develop the vision, strategy and implementation plan that will effectively meet the long range requirements of the business partners and deliver the maximum value for J&J.
  • Develop Ops Plans (incl. budgets, volume planning, etc.) with EM sites.
  • Collaborate with key internal partners for New Product Introductions (NPI) at EM sites to ensure successful NPI launch

Qualifications

Education: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent University degree is required; focused degree in Engineering, Business, Life Sciences or related field preferred. Advanced degree preferred 

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • Minimum eight (8) years of relevant professional work experience
  • Experience working in /supporting Manufacturing Operations
  • Strong analytical/technical proficiency & competence, project management skills and prior experience leading cross-functional projects
  • Strong leadership, communication, influencing and collaboration skills
  • Able to prioritize requests and propose effective cost/customer service alternatives

Preferred:

  • Experience in a GMP environment
  • Track record in Talent Development
  • Experience in multiple areas of supply chain including managing third-party manufacturers, procurement, distribution or finance
  • Experience with Six Sigma/Process Excellence tools, training and/or certification
  • CPSM, CSCP, CPIM, PMP, or other certification
  • Experience with the commercialization of new products

Other:

  • Up to 25% of travel for domestic, international, or both.
