A Day in the Life

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Senior Manager, Executive Development supports and advises the Vice President, Global Learning & Leadership Development (GLLD) in developing, executing, and monitoring the GLLD strategy and key priorities. This role also will focus on the operational and program management support for Executive Development to drive the execution of strategies and program management support for Executive Leadership and all initiatives that span across the GLLD – and broader Global Talent – organization.

This role works to ensure that the team delivers strong results by driving alignment and collaboration across the leadership team. It enables the Vice President, GLLD to focus on the most important, high-value priorities. This role proactively identifies, drives, and resolves critical operational issues related to the smooth functioning of the teams by ensuring that strategic and operational priorities are set and articulated, budget and resources are secured against these priorities and organizational opportunities critical to execution are resolved.

In addition, this role will serve as a program manager, driver, and enabler of VP+ leaders at Medtronic through strategic executive development programs and efforts designed to drive business results.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Responsible for planning, initiating, monitoring, and tracking the annual strategic planning, goal, and budgeting process for GLLD.
  • Serves as a primary program manager and enabler of executive development programs and initiatives, taking on executive stakeholder management, research, and industry best practices for world-class executive leadership development strategies.
  • Helps to establish clear strategic objectives and roadmap/timelines for key priorities and coordinates Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs).
  • Designs and manages operating mechanisms, communication, and engagement routines to ensure the smooth functioning of GLLD leadership team.
  • Represent the VP, GLLD and other leaders on the GT leadership team on key initiatives and programs across the function.
  • Inform, develop, and execute stakeholder management plans that accelerate change, drive alignment, foster collaboration, and realize synergies across the organization.
  • Conduct briefings with senior leadership regarding critical initiatives, goals, and outcomes. Act as a spokesperson and orchestrate communication for multiple initiatives. Serve as a liaison across the organization.
  • Drive operational excellence and enable continuous improvement, promoting efficiencies, synergies, and team engagement to ensure the success of key initiatives.
  • Partners closely with the GT budget captain and serves as the GLLD budget captain to provide monthly reporting and variance tracking with cost center owners and captains.
  • Collaborates across the GLLD leadership team, GT leadership team, and other key partners such as HR Operations, GIDE, etc. to ensure alignment, prioritization, and timely delivery of programs and deliverables.
  • Leads or leverages cross-functional teams to evaluate, develop and manage projects for key business processes.
  • Directs day-to-day activities for multiple work-stream teams through managing project plans, resourcing, status reporting, resolving issues, identifying project risks, and accountability for deliverables across multiple functional organizations.
  • Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.

MUST HAVE (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of progressive experience in HR

· Previous HR or program leadership roles in a high-growth, fast-paced business

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS/ABILITIES

· Master’s degree and 10+ years of progressive business management experience, with exposure to high-performing organizations, including best practices in HR

· Experience in a medical device or related healthcare industry

· Experience in HR strategy development and execution

· Experience in change management

· Strong collaboration skills and ability to work across a matrix environment

· Experience generating creative new ideas and strategies

· Strong business and financial acumen

· Outstanding communication skills, including the ability to summarize complex strategies and data in a clear and concise manner

· HRIS (WorkDay, PeopleSoft preferred), Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Teams skills

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$137,600.00 - $206,400.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

 

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

 

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns.  Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
