The Sr. Manager Employee Relations serves as subject matter expert in employee relationship management and as champion for the employee experience. Supports efforts to establish and deploy innovative communication initiatives aimed at informing the employee population of company plans, programs and other impactful initiatives, as well as establishing effective two-way communication between employees and leadership, ultimately driving employee commitment and company loyalty as measured by engagement surveys and EPS score. Provides direction and support to management in maintaining positive employee relations in both union-represented and nonunion environments, as well as being the subject matter expert on employee relations matters by implementing best practice workplace strategies, methods, policies and processes that enable the enterprise to achieve best-in-class performance and efficiencies in the operation. Could facilitate employee /management grievance procedures. Could audit internal programs and current practices and make subsequent recommendations based upon findings.

This position has been segmented as Remote Anywhere meaning the work is completed 100% remote anywhere in the U.S. except Hawaii or United States Territories. This position will support the Central Region.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides subject matter expertise to employees and leaders in the areas of employee relations and engagement strategy.

  • Works closely with Business Unit Human Resources Partners and the organization’s HR generalist field professionals to align with and support efforts to develop high performing highly engaged, diverse workforce.

  • Provides management with education concerning third party representation of employees.

  • Investigates employee relations issues and makes appropriate recommendations according to federal and state employment law, and US Foods policy, ensuring fair and consistent responses/actions.

  • Collaborates closely with leadership to execute, implement and manage employee relations activities and ensure they are consistent with the directives, strategy and policies of the organization.

  • Evaluates and analyzes trends within the workforce as it pertains to employee satisfaction, commitment and overall employee satisfaction. Anticipate and advise stakeholders on the impact that strategic or operational decisions will have upon employee relations, employee satisfaction and morale - makes recommendations to drive engagement, employee relations and communication.

  • Establishes and maintains effective communication programs to ensure the employee population is well informed of impactful changes, strategies, initiatives, etc., as well as two-way communication so that leadership has a consistent and accurate assessment on the pulse of the employee population.

Qualifications:
Education/Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, industrial relations, human resources or similar required. Master’s preferred

Related Experience/Requirements:

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in employee relations, HR and/or labor relations in union and non-union environments, required.

  • Minimum 7 years of experience creating, managing and executing a campaign strategy, while being agile where needed to make changes based on location and business factors, required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience influencing, guiding, and training field leaders on effective communication and presentation of current employee climate, National Labor Relations Act training, and messaging to employees, required.

  • Ability to conduct persuasive conversations with frontline employees, required.

  • Travel – 50 to 75% required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Understands basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution

  • Effective interpersonal and influencing skills

  • Prior experience with third party representation campaigns

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law (for example: state minimum wage thresholds).  The expected base rate for this role is between

$95,000 - $155,000
