About the job

This position is needed to help us inspire and lead a global network of millions of developers who will build the future of customer engagement. The Developer Evangelism Senior Manager will own developer relations in the North and Latin America regions, while sustaining a relationship that fuels every developer's journey to know, use and love Twilio. The senior manager will address developer needs and partner with Marketing, Product, and additional teams in the region to ensure prioritization among regional programs and events.  You will lead the regional team responsible for making our developer community successful as they build on Twilio. You will lead an organization of Developer Evangelists supporting different countries within North and Latin America and multiple business-critical functions. The leader will build partnerships across Developer Relations and represent Evangelism regional collaboration across the company. 

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Inspire and equip developers to build with Twilio products, ensuring an exceptional developer experience with Twilio.
  • Be an active and authentic leader in the developer community wherever they gather online and offline. 
  • Navigate cross-functional collaboration and partner within Twilio to align with program and engagement objectives.
  • Define and own the strategy for Developer Evangelism within the Americas region through cross-functional team collaboration and stakeholder management.
  • Communicate project plans, progress, and outcomes effectively to stakeholders at all levels within the North and Latin America regions and across the company.
  • Practice servant leadership for the organization, developing the careers of the regional Evangelists.
  • Define success and expand various Evangelism projects, programs, internal and external collaboration initiatives, through a metrics-driven approach. 
  • Contribute to the Developer Network’s strategy as a member of the extended leadership team, reporting directly to the Global Director.
  • Mentor and nurture the next generation of Developer Evangelists within the org.
  • Partner cross-functionally across the company, across Marketing, Product and Sales.
  • Work with all levels of Twilio’s leadership, while representing the regional team.

Required: 

  • 8+ years of experience working in Developer Relations, Developer Community and/or related areas.
  • 3-5 years of team leading or people management experience.
  • Experience leading initiatives within Developer Relations, Community and/or Developer Marketing.
  • Experience working cross-functionally across not only a department but the entire company and doing so at scale.
  • Experience mentoring and guiding ICs as they strive to realize their full potential.
  • Excitement for serving and supporting developer communities with authenticity.
  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration with teams like sales, support, product, marketing and additional stakeholders.
  • Creative and collaborative problem-solving skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making for system and process improvements.
  • Skilled in storytelling to highlight developers building on Twilio and inspire others.

Desired:

  • Familiarity with the North America and Latin America developer and industry landscape, including local communities, events and programs.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.
  • Ability to influence and build effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience and ability to navigate the emerging technology environment in order to deliver the latest in the Developer Relations function for the industry. 
  • Excellent skills in influencing, problem-solving, consensus-building, and strong interpersonal communication.
  • Understanding of organizing and running developer program activities.
  • Prior experience leading relevant functions within Developer Relations.
  • Experience serving developers in the community through Developer Evangelism and/or related Developer Relations functions, specifically within a region.
  • Professional fluency in Spanish or Portuguese

Location

This role will be remote, but is not eligible to be hired in CA, CT, NJ, NY, PA, WA.

Travel 

We prioritize connection and opportunities to build relationships with our customers and each other. For this role, approximately 10% travel is anticipated to help you connect in-person in a meaningful way.

Compensation

*Please note this role is open to candidates outside of California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington D.C., and Washington State. The information below is provided for candidates hired in those locations only.

The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:

  • Based in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Vermont or Washington D.C. : $188,240.00 - $235,300.00.
  • Based in New York, New Jersey, Washington State, or California (outside of the San Francisco Bay area): $199,280.00 - $249,100.00.
  • Based in the San Francisco Bay area, California: $221,360.00 - $276,700.00
  • This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and corporate bonus plan. All roles are generally eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location.
