About the role:
We are seeking a Senior Manager, Data Engineering to own and drive the data side of our platform and manage a team of software engineers. This role requires a strong background in modern data platforms, excellent communication skills to partner across product, commercial, and (at times) external client teams, and familiarity with the paid advertising ecosystem. Knowledge of retailer commerce operations is a strong plus.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and optimization of data solutions across Snowflake, BigQuery, and traditional relational databases.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, commercial teams, and external clients to understand requirements, troubleshoot technical issues, and deliver reliable data solutions.
- Ensure best practices for data pipeline design, performance, and scalability, including cost-optimization strategies.
- Partner with AI/algorithm research and engineering teams to provide data infrastructure support.
- Contribute to our data strategy execution, aligning projects with leadership goals and coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Produce high-quality documentation, including system designs, architecture proposals, and operational guides.
- Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, providing technical guidance in data engineering and system design. Set clear expectations, foster accountability, and support the professional growth and development of team members while driving high-quality execution.
Skills & Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in data engineering or related fields.
- Strong hands-on expertise with Snowflake, BigQuery, and at least one traditional RDBMS (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, etc.).
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with a proven ability to partner effectively with product, business, and commercial stakeholders.
- Experience supporting or integrating with paid advertising platforms (Google Ads, Meta, Amazon, etc.) and understanding of advertising data structures.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Self-starter who can work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team.
- Prior leadership experience managing or mentoring a team of engineers.

The annual base salary range for this position is $195k - $235k. The actual salary will vary depending on the applicant’s experience, skills, and abilities as well as internal equity and market data for their location. This position is also eligible for an additional annual bonus compensation through one of Pacvue’s highly attractive incentive plans, full details will be provided during the recruitment process.
