The team is responsible for serving both enterprise data and product telemetry data solutions at near-time and batch latencies using tools such as Kafka, Snowflake, Kubernetes, dbt, AWS, Airflow, TigerData, Jenkins and more. In this role, you will:
- Work in a hybrid capacity managing and mentoring a team of software engineers and data engineers while also being involved in hands-on technical design and leading team initiatives
- Partner with interdepartmental leaders across the company to drive highly visible strategic objectives and develop vision for Rapid7's data engineering program
- Own core data infrastructure and tooling including AWS, Snowflake, Airflow, Kafka, EKS/ECS, TigerData, dbt, Fivetran and more
- Architect and develop best practices for data integration, data modeling, unit testing, and data productionisation
- Partner with squad leads and staff engineers to refine backlog of priorities and organization roadmap
The skills you'll bring include:
- 8+ years of experience in data engineering or software engineering, with at least 3 years in a management role
- 3+ years of experience overseeing developers including direct people management, management of cross functional partnership, and owning the vision for an organization
- 6+ years of experience in at least one programming language (preferably Python). as well as advanced hands-on SQL work
- Experience working in a modern lakehouse is required (Snowflake is preferred); time-series database experience is a plus (TigerData, InfluxDB)
- Cloud experience is required (AWS is strongly preferred); Terraform is a plus
- Knowledge and ideally hands on experience working with container services is required (ex: ECS, Kubernetes)
- Experience working in a mature SDLC environment (ie: CICD) is a plus
- Knowledge and ideally hands on experience working with streaming platforms is required (Kafka, MSK, Kinesis, etc)
- Modern tech stack experience is a plus (dbt, Fivetran, Snowflake. Airflow)
- Sharp business and interpersonal skills; ability to influence at senior levels across business units to drive change and achieve common goals
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Analytics, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or another quantitative field. or equivalent experience and certifications will be considered
